Indesit CAA55
by MoleyGoldpaws
The Indesit CA55 is an economical and stylish fridge freezer with plenty of room for your fresh food.
I previously owned an old fridge freezer that had the upper freezer compartment and always felt it was never enough storage for my frozen food so I began searching for something with more space. I did a quick search online and ... decided to visit Currys for a look at the ones on display to get an idea of the size.
My kitchen is quite small so I needed something slimmer than the American style fridges and immediately spotted the Indesit CA55 in its striking black colour. Having browsed the range of other models, I wanted something that had sensible use of space. Inside the fridge there are two movable glass shelves, two generous salad and veg drawers in the bottom of the fridge and shelves built into the door that can house large milk containers, 2L bottles, small jars and at the top, an egg tray and butter shelf.
I've found that the space inside the fridge is generous enough yet because the fridge is slim, the height may pose a problem for short statures reaching to the back of the top shelf.
The freezer is nice and roomy, has four drawers which not all do and the upper drawer has a fast freeze function so you have the option to place items in there first. It also comes with ice cube trays but sadly no dedicated area for them to be housed in, I tend to keep them in the bottom drawer. You can easily see whats in each drawer thanks to the transparent fronts and they all individually slide out easily which makes it very easy to keep clean.
I have an Indesit cooker in my kitchen - also in black - so this new addition fitted in well. You can choose to have the model in white or silver which may suit your kitchen better. It sometimes attracts finger marks on the doors as the seal around the doors are pretty tight but a quick pull is all it takes. The fridge I felt was a little noisy at first but it soon settles down and there are adjustable feet on the base if your flooring is a little uneven.
Based on what I paid for the CA55, £239, it is excellent value for money. Indesit appliances come direct from the manufacturer and delivery was no hassle so I am very pleased with my purchase. Read the complete review |

Indesit CAA55

I bought this Indesit CAA55 fridge freezer less than a year ago and have never looked back,it has both quality and quantity and has an A+ energy rating and 4 stars. The doors can be hung left or right and have a really tight seal when closed. the unit is quite quiet and unobtrusive and has adjustable feet It is very sturdy and substantial ... with lots of space inside along with an internal light. The fridge has two removable glass shelves, two see through deep chiller drawers for salad etc,my veg seems to last a lot longer since i started using this unit, and a large deep shelf at the base of the fridge which holds 4pint cartons of milk and the large 2 litre bottles of juice without a problem, above this are two slimmer shelves for condiments etc.The freezer has four see through drawers so i can see at a glance where an item is,one of the drawers is for super fast freezing food quickly which i find really useful as it means i do not have to put the whole unit on fast freeze. The unit is 55cm wide and fits the space i have it in perfectly by174cm high and stands tall and proud and looks good next to my kitchen units,(anyone five feet or under may struggle to reach the top shelf), and has a massive 234 litres of internal space. it comes in white, black,or silver.I chose white as it goes with the rest of the appliances and cupboards in my kitchen.Prior to buying this item i never really looked on Indesit as a brand i would choose and heard little if anything about its appliances,I thought This brand was from the days of yore and that i would be better with a more modern and popular brand, but how wrong i was and i am happy i opted for this item as it has turned out to be excellent value for money and built to last.It comes with an egg rack and an ice cube tray as well as an instruction booklet which gives a lot of helpful hints and tips on using the unit and setting it up along with a customer service helpline telephone number. For robustness and quality i would certainly recommend this fridge freezer to anyone looking to purchase a new one. When i bought this item it cost me around £200 because i had a voucher for £30.00 off and i got it delivered for free because i was spending over £100,i think i would struggle to get a quality used fridge freezer for this small amount and there would certainly not be a guarantee with it.So weighing it all up i am very happy with my purchase and the price i paid and Indesit is a brand i would recommend to family, friends and others and also one i would look to purchase if i were looking for an appliance any time in the future along with another one or two brands that i have bought. Indesit BIAA10

Since being in our own flat we have always just had a small fridge with a caravan size freezer as we could not afford anything more. After about four years every chrsitmas was becoming more and more awkward as we like to treat ourselves to Iceland party foods, joints of meat and salmon etc. The trouble is they tell you not to pack your ... fridges or they work inefficiently, well ours was packed to the rafters! After some looking around I bought this Indesit model from the Littlewoods catalogue last year in the sale for £249.99 so I would be able to pay the amount in installments interest free.
This fridge freezer is made by Indesit who are a famous Italian appliance manufacturer founded in 1975 who sponsored Arsenal football club in 2011. I bought this type of fridge as I needed more freezer and fridge space, in this case the fridge is larger than the freezer but this is fine as I had enough space to buy an extra upright freezer. The capacity is 182 litre in total with 51 litre freezer and 131 litre fridge leaving plenty of space for fresh foods. The energy rating is A+ not only good for bills but for the environment conscious of us.
The fridge freezer came wrapped in polystyrene to protect all the edges and was in great condition. At first turn on the fridge freezer needs to be left for 24 hours for the gases to settle.
The fridge itself is fantastic for storing a large amount of items and the height of the fridge makes life a lot easier not having to bend down for milk every time I make a cup of tea. The door has a top shelf ideal for butter blocks and eggs (the egg tray is moveable but I put it up here so the eggs are out of the way from being knocked). The middle shelf has more space for all of my jars of jam, marmalade and the shorter squeezy sauce bottles such as ketchup. The third shelf has the most space and this is where I store milk (4pt), juice bottles and taller sauces. The door makes organisation easy and looks tidy.
The main part of the fridge has 2 moveable shelves; the top I always use for my butters so I have this higher. The middle shelf I use for puddings and yogurts plus any water bottles I lay down; and the bottom for the fish and meats. A great little organisation idea is the two drawers in the bottom which fit a large amount in. In my two drawers I store cheese in one and the other has lettuce, peppers, chillis, onions, tomatoes (yes its that big!).
The freezer has three normal drawers and one drawer for fast freezing, this drawer is ideal for meats or ice cream if it has melted a little on the journey home from the shops. I find the freezer holds plenty enough for a couple and I suppose even with a child there would be plenty; I have mince, steaks, a chicken, chips, vegetables, a gateux and other bits and pieces in here.
The freezer is frost free but the fridge occasionally freezes up at the back and things stick to it so I keep them away from the back. There is an antibacterial lining, I find cleaning is very easy I just use a wipe to go around the shelves whether it looks dirty or not. The shelves are easy to remove in the fridge as are the drawers in the freezer. The fridge is fab at keeping temperature though and I feel that it keeps milk fresher as my milk often lasts longer than the dates on the pack.
The door opening sides can be changed as can the leg heights on the bottom, this is handy as we have tiles and the fridge freezer can become uneven.
I love my fridge freezer having no issues with it yet. Read the complete review |
