Advantages: John Lewis 3 yr warranty and size
Disadvantages: No ice cube maker or cold water dispenser
We bought one of these when we moved into our new house. Our kitchen isnt that big but I wanted a decent sized fridge freezer. I was going to get one of the american types with ice dispenser but the wife managed to talk me out of it as they were just to wide.
So we had a look round and found the ideal one in John Lewis. Its their own brand which is a good thing as they all come with a three year warranty. We chose the Silver JLFFW1807 (its an extra £100 and is offically called theJLSS1808).
The fridge is huge (240L) it has 3 adjustable, easy-clean glass shelves and houses a handy 5 bottle wine/chiller storage rack, which tilts to keep wine in optimum condition. There's also a large pull-out salad/crisper with divider and a covered dairy compartment. We thought that this would be ideal space especially at Xmas.
The 4-star frost free (74L) freezer has 3 removable, transparent drawers and a 'quick-freeze' function which reduces the temperature for a set time so freshly added food is frozen quickly to preserve its quality, while existing contents are kept frozen.
It looks amazing and more importantly does the job.
Summary: Great brand, warranty and looks great

- 18/05/09 I wish they would make these with the freezer bigger than the fridge rather than the other way round, Susan |

- 18/05/09 The American ones look great, but they really are big unless you've got a huge kitchen. |
