Sitting here having reviewed the laptop I'm staring at now it is time to review the first white good in my vision and that is our Lec fridge freezer which we have had for a number of years now so I have no idea how much we paid for it and it has survived a house move so it is pretty sturdy although now I expect it to die on me after this review.
It is white in colour and is an upright two compartment unit with the top compartment being the fridge and the lower compartment is the freezer. The upper level fridge has four glass shelves for food storage and built into the door are compartments to stand up milk and bottles as well as an egg rack and a shelf for smaller items. There are also two small compartments for salad and vegetable items at the bottom of the fridge.
The lower freezer is split into four compartments, three are the same size and the bottom one is slightly deeper but with slightly less width to it, a good place to store frozen chickens or meat for the Sunday roast.
This has been a largely reliable and good fridge freezer, the capacity is fine for the two of us although we do have a seperate small fridge in which we store alcohol and other drinks, this one from LEC could not cope with both.
Now that it has gotten older it has got a bit noisier, I can hear it humming away now as I type and on a couple of occasions it has not lived up to its frost free tag however it is easy to defrost and is only a very occasional problem however if ice does form it has the habit of pushing out the baskets in the freezer and then the door can pop open making the problem worse.
I would recommend it due to its reliability and the fact that it does the job it needs to do. It is easy to clean and while it does not have all the featuires of those new super fridges that dispense water and ice it does for me.
I bought one of these at the end of November from Comet. It was delivered this weekend and even though I've only had it for 5 days (and 4 nights) so far, it is a great fridge/freezer.
I had a big American style fridgefreezer before which broke so I went out looking for a cheap but decent sized appliance to replace it.
The fridge part (at the top) has four glass shelves, bottle rack and two crisper drawers. We are a family of four that cook from scratch (well I do the cooking, the other three just eat it all) and I easily fitted in a weeks shopping.
The fridge drawers have enough room for at least 2.5kg of potatoes each and various other fruit and vegetables. The door has a shelf for tall items (we keep a water jug in there) and then a shelf for jars and one for dairy.
The freezer part has one deep drawer, two shelves and an ice drawer. You can easily get three loaves of bread in the drawer, and I have 12 inch pizzas in there too.
I thought it would be easier to give you those kind of dimensions!!!
There is an alarm that goes off if you leave the fridge open. There is also a digital display that shows the temperature of both the fridge and the freezer.
Its not great to look at, but it's a white fridgefreezer and is spacious and attractive inside!
Obviously prices will vary but we paid £270 for ours which included Saturday delivery and removal of our old appliance.
