An American-style fridge freezer for the smaller house, this fridge-freezer offers both practicality and style.
First, on the practical front it's A+ energy rated, meaning it'll only cost you about £0.10 a day to run, whilst storing a good amount of food and drink. All of the shelves are anti-bacterial and there aren't the irritating grooves that attract food (and mould!) in many other fridge freezers with shelves of this type (glass tempered).
Four shelves, fruit and veg drawers, a cheese tray, water cooler and three 'on door' shelves make up the fridge component. The water cooler seemed a good idea but is, in fact, rather irritating. We've been unable to fill it up without drips, and pouring presents even more problems since the space for your cup is barely large enough for a children's tumbler. This is a minor con, but given the amount of 'fridge' space the cooler takes up it's a bit annoying (especially as it leaves very little room for drinks, etc... on the door).
The freezer has four shelves, plus a very useful slimline icecube shelf (complete with trays). Other functions include a very useful digital temperature display which enables easy adjustment for both the fridge and freezer, and an 'open door' alarm. The latter can be somewhat irritating - it goes off after a very short time making unpacking the shopping a noisy experience - and as someone who hasn't ever left my fridge door wide open, I don't really see the point!
All in all a very good quality product with a few niggles, retailing for a very reasonable £519. Easily fits in a weekly shop for our little family of three, but for any more you'll probably want a bigger option.
We bought this fridge three years ago, making it the first purchase when moving to our new home. Since then, the fridge has worked perfectly and we have been more than satisfied with every aspect.
The design of the fridge was the main selling point when we were considering its many alternatives. This first thing you notice with the fridge is a water dispenser on the front door. The mechanism for this is very simple, but for those who like their water still and cold, this is a really must-have accessory. The tank on the back can be taken out for cleaning and to fill it up.
Aside from the wate cooler, the fridge has a screen at the top informing ou of the temperatures inside and the desired settings. A quick push of a button allows you to change the fridge and freezer temperatures without having to trawl around the inside of the fridge for that hard-to-find wheel which is typically covered in ice. Operationally, this fridge is also excellent. The door seals are of good quality and the handle mechanism gives the fridge the feeling of class. Internally, aside from the usual shelves, there is also a larger shelf for keeping your salad and a slightly colder compartment for the meat & beer.
The last feature of this fridge is the extremely useful little wheels on the back. While not noticeable when the fridge is stationary, they are very handy when it comes to moving the fridge from one place in the other which we've had to do a fair amount over the last few years. It also makes moving the fridge out easy for cleaning itself and the areas underneath/behind it.
