Take your time, if your thinking of purchasing one of these,

This is the best fridge freezer I've ever owned, I purchased it about 4 years ago, I was lucky enough to extend my kitchen and replaced my old upright fridge freezer for this side by side fridge freezer.
I went around all my local electrical appliance stores looking at what was out there, I finally made up my mind and purchased this Samsung RS21DCNS.

      What attracted me:
Firstly the look, I have other brushed steel appliances in my kitchen so this matched in.
The make, I've had Samsung products in the past and they have never let me down, it's a name I trust.
The size, one recomendation, if your looking at buying something like this, this is a big appliance, take down the measurements to ensure it will fit where you want it to go, also you get it to where you want it, the delivery guys told me they had had to take off someones front door to get one of these fridges in a house a few days previous.
I loved the idea of the water and ice dispenser, I drink far more water now than I ever did, I find the kids drink more water too, they especially like to add ice, a word of warning here, always put the ice in the glass first, if you put it in a glass already filled with your chosen drink the Ice will then make a splash, I was mopping the floor several times a day when we first got ours.

      Inside the fridge are:
3 drawers, 2 deep drawers, I use 1 for fruit and the other for veg and salad, then there is a slimmer drawer I use for pre packed sandwich meats, there are then 4 glass shelves, these can be put in at different levels to suit what you want to store, one shelf is able to slide in half enableing you to stand bulkier items there, I also find the shelves are easy to remove, I do this on a regular basis to wash them in, I use warm soapy water.
The door has 4 shelves, for bottles and jars etc. these are also easy to remove to clean, you can adjust the heights of the shelves, the door also has a dairy compartment with a lid.

      Inside the freezer:
This is similar to the fridge 2 large drawers, 3 glass shelves and 4 shelves on the door. Obviously the ice maker is in the freezer, this does take up a lot of room.
I found the freezer rather small when I first got it, but now I find I eat more fresh foods as there is more room in the fridge to store fresh foods.

I found I wasted more food when I had a chest freezer, things would get lost at the bottom and go out of date without me realizing, in this freezer I can see everything, so I find I have far less waste.

On the outer freezer door you will find the control pannel this shows you and also enables you to adjust the temperature of the fridge and freeze. You can make your ice selection, cubed, crushed or no ice. Theres power freeze and power cool buttons, these help speed up the freezing process of the freezer and cooling process of the fridge. The water and ice dispensers are also directly below the control pannel.

Another thing I should point out, I'm sure most of you will realise, this fridge needs to be connected to your water supply to enable the supply of water and Ice, a friend had to have her kitchen floor up just to connect her fridge to the water supply, just something else to consider before you make your purchase.

Something else, the water filters need to be replaced every 6 months, these can be fairly expensive if you purchase the recomended Samsung filters, I get unnamed filters for my fridge from the internet, these work out a lot cheaper and I've never experienced any problems, the company I use also e-mail me just before the 6 months is up to remind me to replace the filter, one time I waited a month or so longer to replace the filter, it was winter and I felt I hadn't used as much water as I had in the 6 months in the summer and I could extend the lenght of time before replacing the filter, I wouldn't recomend this, as the last lot of ice started turning black, as soon as this happened I quickly replace the filter got rid of the black ice and all was well.

There is sooo much more to this fridge freezer, but hopefully I have covered the basics.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Wouldn't buy it again

Bought this fridge freezer second hand and initially was really pleased with it, it looks great and has cold water and ice (cubed or crushed) on tap which kids love!!
Theres loads of space in the fridge but the freezer is pretty small so not ideal if like me you like to cook batches of curry, chilli etc and freeze them.
We'd had this for a few months when it started to go wrong, first noticed the temperature dropping in the freezer and spoiling the food, the fridge although the electronic display showed the temperature was fine, also started to get warmer. We noticed the fridge had started to make a loud whirring noise which only stopped when yo opened the door. We defrosted it and the noise stopped for a while but soon started again along with the temperature rising and food being spoilt.
We didn't want to spend money getting someone out to look at it if it couldn't be fixed so did a bit of digging and lo and behold, on youtube there's a watchdog programme saying Samsung had agreed that this unit "was not fit for purpose" and had agreed to replace the cooling units in these free of charge! Rang the number, they got someone out the next day who replaced the cooling unit-problem solved!Hope this helps someone-it's been fine ever since.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

expect much better for the price

i have owned this impressive looking fridge freezer now for almost 3 years, at first i was impressed with the fridge capacity but less impressed with the freezer space (surely it would make more sense for the freezer space to be greater?).
the ice cube and cool water dispenser are great features but i must admit i have never got round to connecting it up properly in order to use them as due to the size of this unit we could'nt store it close to a water supply (doh!) keep this in mind before purchasing you will need a big kitchen.
also 1 year in and we started to notice how noisy the fridge had become and found it was due to the fan building up with ice (this seems a common problem for owners of this model)
the problem is fixed with regular defrosting but is annoying.
as of yet we have had no problem with freezer compartment.
10/10 for looks but not so good otherwise
