Advantages: Plenty of features, low odour, water filter, ice maker, large fridge.
Disadvantages: Smaller freezer than the expectations, will make a noise of ice dropping into tray when on automatic
This is a truly amazing fridge freezer. We bought this in the January sales this year due to it dropping in price to £699. We decided on black due to the majority of our appliances in the kitchen are this colour, although there are more to choose from including silver. The unit is a side by side fridge freezer, with the freezer to the left and the fridge to the right.
On the front there is a digital display for setting the fridge and freezer temperatures and ice settings. It has a child lock which locks the buttons preventing my 6 year old from decreasing the fridge temperature to 1 degree above zero. Both compartments incorporate fast cool facility, this decreases the temperatures to their absolute minimum, thereby cooling say, warm beers – or a bottle of wine, extremely quickly.
The main selling point for this fridge from Samsung aside from its sleek looks is its twin cooling system. This means that both compartments are cooled independently. This gives a much better control over the temperature. Also this cooling system helps with eliminating mixing of odours. It also has a separate deodoriser, and a water filtration system. This ensures a reduction in chlorine, odour, mercury, lead, and other particulates and chemicals. It can be pipe direct to the mains, if you don’t have a mains supply nearby it can be filled with water. The filters can be easily purchased from Samsung or many third party stores online approx £30. The filter has an indicator light that will change from green to red reminding you that the filter needs changing – Samsung recommend every 6 months.
The fridge holds four shelves all tempered glass making them so easy to clean. It has a large dairy centre. 3 door shelves which are big enough to fit milk and juices. It has 2 drawers specifically for fresh vegetables/ produce.
The freezer holds 3 glass shelves and 2 drawers, 4 door shelves and marvellous ice maker. The ice maker has three modes OFF, CRUSHED, CUBED, and is able to do up to 120 ice cubes per day. The only downside to the freezer is that it is a bit small unfortunately and I don’t think Samsung really though it through having such a large fridge and yet a small freezer. I find that although this is true, the freezer will adequately house enough food for an average family of four for a week.
Overall Samsung have done a very good job of manufacturing and designing this fridge freezer, with adequate space for the average family, cold water, crushed or cubed ice, easy clean, lit compartments and fast cool and freeze (called POWER COOL and POWER FREEZE.) They also provide all the necessary fittings to connect to the mains, except a washing machine isolator - £2 approx in DIY stores. Instructions too are well written, no complex jargon. Its energy efficient and even when cooling it runs very silently.
Finally the Samsung specs as follows:

- 12/07/07 I get what you mean, I just copied it from the book that was sent with my appliance. I dont know whether dooyoo have it wrong? |

- 12/07/07 Im not recommending anything - the inclusion of putting that spec in at the bottom of your review may confuse consumers as it has done me. |

- 11/07/07 just looked at the other version that you recommended, and unless, Igot n incorrect manual and paid at £600 more...... i dont think so.... also reading specs on the RS21JLSG - it has 3 fridge shelves not 4 as mentioned in my review..... |
