We bought this unit on a deal from B&Q as the specification seemed good, and we were offered a discount because of the overall spend (over £3000). It was delivered direct from Samsung 12 weeks before our new kitchen arrived, but looked very pretty on its pallet in our lounge.
It has a sizeable freezer and ice maker, and a fridge which keeps breaking down. It comes with a two year warranty ,it first broke down inside this period, and Samsung keep fixing it outside the warranty period because its a manufacturing defect /design fault they're aware of. It's even featured on Youtube!
As an aftersales service they're truly awful, with a call centre working from a script in phoney American accents , unable to correctly pronounce your name after four goes. They put you on hold and either hang up or say they'll call back and don't.
E-mails sent at their request are unacknowledged after a week. I pointed out in my last that I had lost more in wages than the price of the unit new, I'm self employed and have to take a day off every time they "repair" it again.
They even denied one of the repairs had occurred, after sending me a "customised" questionnaire about their aftersales, the second repair in 4 weeks, and fourth with the same problem since purchase.
I've now been e-mailed today, ten days after sending them my receipt and proof of purchase, and advised that they will offer me a " depreciated refund". Why should I suffer depreciation and loss of income because they can't fix a simple domestic appliance?
I must contrast this with the reaction of Bosch when they have a problem. They identified a possible problem with a dishwasher. Mine is many years old. They advertised the problem in the national press , responded to those of us who made contact immediately with a modification to prevent the problem occurring. Truly excellent service, Samsung could learn much.
As for myself, I'll vote with my credit card when it comes to the replacement.........
We had been looking on and off for a year or so at the larger style fridge freezers and when this one was on special in Comet we bought it.
I think it worked properly for about 1 week before shards of plastic were coming of the ice making unit and appearing in our drinks. The engineer was called out and a pin had sheared on the crusher unit , the whole unit was replaced.
After a couple of weeks It stopped making ice completely - another engineers visit. They actually removed a panel from the back of the unit as it was 'too well insulated'?
After another few weeks the ice machine only gave crushed ice, not cubed, yet again engineer replaced full unit.
When we returned from holiday the whole unit had fused and we lost over £300 of food. We could not claim from Samsung/ Comet as an engineer had to see the food - they couldnt come out for days - who in their right mind would keep rotting food lying about for days on end?
Both the bottom drawers in the fridge and freezer have broken - they are lidded and the plastic hinges have just snapped. Samsung will not replace these as they class it as acceptable wear and tear.
The freezer is only dispensing crushed ice again, but to be honest I have had enough of it, I really wish they would just take it away and refund our money
I can honestly say this is the worst product I have ever owned.
Our last fridge/freezer (wheich we keep in the garage as the feezer on the samsung is not big enough) is still going strong after 20 years!
The customer service from samsung has been shocking and they have the nerve to ask you if you want to take out an extended warranty!
This fridge freezer ia an american style side by side with ice and water dispensers we brought ours from comet on special offer and also purchased the extended warranty.The first problem i have with it is the size of the freezer-although it looks like a huge appliance because the ice dispenser in in the freezer it takes up a lot of space leaving you struggling to find space for any food.After a few months the fridge starte to make a loud whirring noise which only stoppped after you opened the door which apparently was caused by a build up of ice this was "fixed" until 1 month later when the fridge stopped working altogether its temp.was 20degrees and it continued to make the noise.after 4 repairs to the fan it still was not working correctly so comet wrote it off and we purchased a standard fridge-freezer which has been completly fine for us
The Samsung RSH1DTMH is a big U.S style fridge freezer which has centre outward opening doors. Acually bought this brand new just recently on sale.
The Samsung RSH1DTMH is a silver coloured side by side fridge freezer and has an A+ energy efficient rating, which is the most efficiency fridge freezer you can get and will help a lot to lower the cost of running it. It actually has 530kWh/yr energy consumption as stated in the manual.
This fridge freezer has LED display and a twin electronic thermostat. Most importantly its frost free which simply means no water leaks all over the kitchen floor or frost build-up. Also built in is an auto defrost system so all defrosting is done automatically. I've not heard of this before until I read it in the manual that it has built in anti bacterial protection.
The Samsung fridge freezer is very well designed, the doors open from the centre outwards and has an ice and chilled water dispenser. Also has 345L capacity, 4 glass shelves and salad drawers. The freezer has a 4 star rating, 179L capacity, fast freeze facility which freezes food much quicker, preserving the taste and texture and 2 drawers.

Overall the Samsung RSH1DTMH is a excellent looking fridge freezer with plenty of room inside for your food. At first I wasn't so sure about purchasing a fridge freezer by Samsung who usually make TV's. I guess I got pulled into the sale and only time will tell if this fridge freezer will last as long as I hope it will. I purchased it from Comet for £649.99 which I thought was a good price for a big fridge freezer.
Beware. These Samsung products come with a 24 month warranty but if you do a google search, you will see how many people have major problems with them. Ours developed a major fault with 4 weeks left on the warranty. Samsung did all they could to try & avoid the warranty repair. Their customer service team in Scotland are awful. They promised a call back in 2 hours but fail to do so. We eventually booked an engineer to come so hope it will be repaired. However, for a product that cost us £700, to fail in under 2 years is awful. And when you see how many other people have problems with Samsung refrigerators, you might be better paying a little bit more for another manufacturer. Look for yourself and make your own mind up.
