Well, we waited 5 years to get this appliance! Had the kitchen done out with a space for it & a water supply & then felt we couldn't justify throwing out the old fridge/freezer (we'd also run out of money!).
So when the time came to get a new one, we did oodles of research & visited countless shops & this was the one we decided on.
Got it from our local Euronics centre for a very good price (£999) in the January sale.
These are the manufacturer's details:
Dimensions (cm) (H)179.0 x (W)90.3 x (D)74.2
Shelf Type: Safety Glass (all removable - easy to clean)
Manufacturer Warranty: 2 Year(s) (we got ours extended for free)
Energy Rating: A Rated
Frost Free Freezer
Split Type 60/40 (60 fridge/ 40 freezer)
Fridge Capacity (Gross) 357 Litres
Freezer Capacity (Gross) 184 Litres
Ice & water Dispenser (requires plumbing (we did it ourselves, but you need to know what you're doing)) Water quality is good.
Makes about 100 ice cubes a day (which you can turn off - we do)
Annual Energy Consumption 522 Kwh (about £50 at current prices)
Required Room Temperature 10 To 38 °C
Number of Compartments (Freezer) 4 (possibly could do with 1 more)
Number of Shelves (Fridge) 3
Alarm for open door & malfunction (a nice twinkly sound)
All controls are on the front - shows fridge & freezer temps, which is particularly useful, as are the fast-freeze & fast-chill buttons.
It's extremely well made & reliable (as you would expect).
Quiet & economical, works well & does all that I need -
EXCEPT... the freezer section is narrow (30cm(as with all side-by-sides)) & the ice maker takes up a lot of room. You couldn't fit in a large pizza.
This is actually quite a nuisence & I'm thinking of getting a small freezer for the garage.
This is another very nice double sided fridge. Like most American-style fridges, like this one, you're going to have to pay quite a lot. This one in particular is £1000. That isn't actually too bad at all, considering what you get.
The fridge freezer combination is great for storage and it means you don't need to buy another unit as it's all there. This also makes it more convenient and looks better. Cleaning is very easy as almost everything is removable and it is also a frost free freezer which means no removing of ice! That's always good.
This fridge also has an energy rating of "A", which I always look out for as it means it will be cheaper in the long run than some other fridges which use too much energy. This fridge shouldn't give you any problems, but even if it does, it has a 2 year warranty so you are always covered.
