Apple Remote:
... bought the Apple Remote with the main aim of controlling my iTunes library from across the room on my MacBook Pro, not thinking about the iPod at all. The remote can be bought alone, or with the universal dock which will accept all iPods and enable control from the remote when plugged in to speakers or a computer. The remote opens up a new list of features when used on the Mac, pushing the Menu button opens Front... Read the full review: Great to turn your Mac into a media centre! by delude |

Logitech Harmony 525 ... had seen these remotes but thought to myself why pay £40+ for an all in one remote, when i can buy an all for one for a tenner. After using the 525 for a couple of days, the extra expense was easily justified. The Harmony 525 is so much more than an all in one remote. The Harmony takes 4 AAA batteries, which with everyday use should last 6-12 months, which is not bad considering you only have one remote compared to the previous multitude. The 525 can control upto 10 devices, which will be more than enough for most people. The beauty of these remotes is the Activity modes. You set up activities such as Watch TV Watch DVD With one button press all the correct comp... Read the full review: Great solution to every households remote nightmare by toy_fan |

Apple Remote ... Apple Remote first started coming packaged as a standard option with the last of the iMac G5 computers and was initially used to control Front Row. This proved to be a really clever idea, unlike the Microsoft Media Centre remotes of the time it had only six buttons rather than 30 or more. This means that you don t have to have a PHD to work out what to do. It all works on infrared so you do need line of sight to activate the controlled utility but generally that s not a problem. You can also pair the remote to work with only a specific device so you don t have to worry if you have several remotes in the same room. The remote can also be bought separately for £18 as... Philips SRU9600 ... too many remote controls is a royal pain in the neck. Over the years I have tried many of these universal or all-in-one remotes. From the £200 Marantz touch screen, to one of the one4all remotes that I now use, this one from Philips came somewhere in between my testing and I will let you know what lets it down. It is not all bad though. The remote is very nicely made, feels nice in the hand and has a nice simple interface. The top half of the remote has a touch panel, which lights up to reveal various touch sensitive buttons. The bottom half has proper keys for volume, channel changing, menu, guide etc. as well as a scrolling wheel, with four way clicker in the mi...
