When I bought my Apple Macbook late last year I didn't really consider many accessories on the fact that Apple wanted to charge a heck of a price for many accessories that can be picked up elsewhere online or high street shops for a lot less money. Amidst the travel adaptors, skins, Mighty Mouse types and other fancy designs to tart up your Apple Mac, the only accessory I was interested in was their Infra-red remote control. However the prices that I was given at the Apple Mac store in Glasgow didn't sound quite right at £35! After six months without a remote control and with use in various schools I didn't think that I would come to rely on the remote control until I ... Read the complete review

The Apple remote comes with a small range of Macs such as the Mac Mini, but is usually not included with the range of laptops including the Macbook and Macbook Air. You can buy the remote separately if you wish, for around £10.00 online somewhere such as amazon.co.uk. I wouldn't recommend buying one unless it's included with your computer as it doesn't have many functions and is only ideal for parties or events. The remote is white and rectangular shaped with round edges. Along the front is a black infrared panel. On the upper face is a circular dial, similar to that on the eldest iPod Shuffle. In the outer circle, there are + and - buttons on the top and ... Read the complete review

When I popped onto the Apple website the other day and started playing around with configuring a MacBook, I got a bit of a shock. Once you get past the various hard drive sizes and amounts of RAM, you get to accessories. And there was an Apple remote. Price: £15. Sorry, £15? When did that happen?! When I bought my MacBook Pro just over a year ago, they chucked in one for free! And a DVI to VGA adaptor as it happens. So, is it worth the £15? Well, yes. It's actually quite a handy little thing to have. You can quickly adjust the volume of your system, pause/start any music in iTunes, as well as skipping tracks and fast ... Read the complete review

The Apple Remote first started coming packaged as a standard option with the last of the iMac G5 computers and was initially used to control Front Row. This proved to be a really clever idea, unlike the Microsoft Media Centre remotes of the time it had only six buttons rather than 30 or more. This means that you don't have to have a PHD to work out what to do. It all works on infrared so you do need line of sight to activate the controlled utility but generally that's not a problem. You can also pair the remote to work with only a specific device so you don't have to worry if you have several remotes in the same room. The remote can also be bought ... Read the complete review

The Apple remote comes with many of the modern day Macs however is an add on option for the laptops and certain versions. The Apple Remote is primarily used to control the Front Row media centre, which is present in current Macs on the leopard operating system. The remote is used to wirelessly flick between music, videos and photos. The Apple Remote is designed similarly to the iPod shuffle as it is of similar size with similar buttons. Rather than having a scroll wheel, the Apple Remote consists purely of buttons used to control Front Row. It is ideal for parties and presentations as you can wirelessly control your media. The remote is small - 3cm x 8.5cm x ... Read the complete review
