It took about ten minutes to fit and set up and about the same with the Nero bundled software and off you go it gives you a free black CD as well so you have everything you need. Pioneer A04 /104 ... to install and as easy to use as any CD-R, CD-RW or CD-type data drive. What more can I say? Well let me try, it's a great bit of kit and that has that wooo factore built-right in there. The drive operates at single speed normally but with a software patch is brought up to 2-speed with the appropriate type of DVD-R media. What this means in reality is that a drive that normally burns 4.7GB of data in 1 hour can do it in 30 minutes. Wow. If you head out and buy some Bulkpaq disks that means you're probably burngin 4.7 GB for about 50p, that's the same per megabyte as the cheap of cheap CD media. Nice. Iomega ZIP 100 MB USB ... most people will remember, the only form of media for storing files used to be the humble floppy disk. This was a very decent product in it's time because the size of most files were quite small, allowing a large portion of your data to stored this way. Even today the floppy can be useful for Excel spreadsheets or Word documents, but with the ever increasing size of files such as audio, photo and video content a larger has become essential. The current available options are Zip drive, LS120 or CD writer. Samsung CDRW 8x8x32 ... the SM-308 COMBO CDRW/DVD from PC World. At the time I already had a Philips x2 speed writer but this was a bit slow and I also fancied a DVD player. The box said it required a PII 266Mhz. My machine was a PII350 so I thought I would have no problems. INSTALLATION - The installation was easy and the instructions were OK.
