This is a very good piece of hardware for people who really like movies, and want the best quality available. It is 6x and so can cope with any DVD software available on the market, and it shouldn't need upgrading for a good deal of time when more advanced software comes out. Although you can watch the DVD's on your monitor, unless you have a really good, large monitor, that won't be enough, and so a graphics card with TV-OUT capabilities may become a necessity if you would prefer to watch them on your television.
