... standard, but as the technology becomes more widespread companies are now using various other colours other than the gold. I dont know whether this is an issue just with the Verbatim CD's or whether its a general complaint to all manufacturers of these lightscribe discs, but I find that over time the inscribed designs do tend to fade a lot. I know this isn't happening through constant handling and rough use because I look after my Cd's and DVD's and place them in special albums. Other than that, this technology an...more

Premium Review Verbatim Lightscribe CD-R 700 MB 52x: Etch a CD (435 words)

After having created your CD's and perhaps having taken quite a bit of time perfecting that label design, isn't it most annoying when after only a few plays the label starts to lift and causes all kinds of problems. If the label lifts too far whilst in play then you can find yourself in one heck of a predicament trying to retrieve the CD from you drive. Problems in playing your CD might also occur if the risen label catches part of the CD Rom drive whilst in operation. Apart from the obvious fact that if you don't use paper labels this problem is eliminated, there is another solution. Lightscribe !! Lightscribe is a relatively new concept in terms of us being ...  Read the complete review

My second favourite brand of CD-R's, only not my first because i had 2 disc failures from my batch of 100 whereas my last lot of sony discs did not have a single failure, but it may have just been a bad batch. They always burn quickly and are very resistant to scratches. I ran one of these and a Maxell over a pen knife blade and then dropped from roughly 10 feet onto stones and while the Maxell failed the Verbatim ...  Read the complete review

I have been using a computer regularly over the past five years, and have always found Verbatim discs to be reliable. When weighed against other makes, I found that they are error free and that I never have to write a disc twice because of silly errors, whereas with other makes I do. Even the Philips CD Roms had a higher failure rate, which surprised me. Having bought a new computer, I was interested in what the Light Scribe feature was all about, and if you take a look in a good computer store, you will find these little discs, clearly labelled with Light Scribe on the side, and this opens up a whole new experience for computer users. The discs come ...  Read the complete review

I recently purchased an external lightscribe drive so I purchased the Verbatin Lightscribe CD-R to try the lightscribe drive out. Now lightscribe is a technology that allows you to etch via a laser, a picture or text or basically any design onto specially coated lightscribe cd or dvd media. Having burned your information onto cd you are then ready to design a label or whatever you want onto the lightscribe cd. You do this by simply flipping the lightscribe cd over and placing in back in the same lightscribe drive. Effectively placing it upside down. Then you open up your preferred software to design an image or text to etch onto the specially ...  Read the complete review
