T-Rex Tortoise Dry Formula
by ArronHugh I have a Herman's tortoise and use this product as part of his diet. He goes mad for these little colour drops and instantly picks out all the green ones from the pile and eats them first., Mad i know i never have thought a tortoise would have a favourite colour. Positives= This product is a easy way to add a bit of variety to ... your tortoise's diet and is a very quick way of treating them to . To prepare you only need to add water to the pellets and let them soak for 5minutes intill soft and they are ready to serve straight to your little guy. Besides this its good-value for your money and one tub will last you a few months if you watch how big your portions are. Negatives= Now i didn't know this when i first started using this item but after reading few people' comments and speaking to my local vet they advised me to be careful with this product due to the fact that the protein levels are a little to high for regular consumption. By feeding the majority of slow growing tortoises this item more than 1- 2 a month can cause them to grow to quickly for there shell and cause alot of health problems. So hopefully you will use this item wisely and not over do it, I would never fully take this away from allan my tortoise has he absolutely adores these little rainbow balls, but like any food that are not that healthy for us then we would have it as a rare treat , So do the same for this item and they will enjoy it more. This item is from the company T-Rex and i find them to be a very reputable company that sell products at reasonable prices. This item currently retails at about £4.50 to £12.00 depending on what size tub you buy. The tubs are sized at 170g, 340g or 680g. Read the complete review |

T-Rex Calcium Plus Reptile Food
by ArronHugh Hi there this is my first review so hopefully i will do it tidy. This is one of many products from T-Rex, I find them be very reliable company that delivers a good standard of reptile equipment and accessories. This item is created to help better the diet of your reptiles and to make sure they are getting adequate vitamins and ... minerals. It does this by gut-loading (feeding the insects before you give them to your guys). To do this you will need to add them to the livefeeds box and they will then eat the little coloured pellets. Remove any leftover pellets after 12-hours as this will rule out any chance of mould or bacteria building up. This is very good way of insuring you pet remains healthy, it is also very highly palatable and nourishes crickets. With this it eliminates having to add fresh veg and fruit to the crickets environment and in return becomes very cost-effective and convenient way of gut-loading. But i still recomend that you still use supplements such as nutrobol or other calcium products as this T-rex item will not be enough on its own to keep you little guys healthy. I believe this item would be readily available in most decent reptile outlets or web stores. It ranges in price from £2.50- £3.00 a tub which is 56 grms. As you can see this item as alot of benefits and you really do get alot for you money. It makes feeding crickets/locusts so much easier and greatly reduces escapes. Only negative point is that they should better nutrional values in the pellets. Read the complete review |

T-Rex Tortoise Dry Formula
by DocDan3 The T-Rex dry tortoise formula an excellent alternative for your tortoise, and helps provide a healthy, balanced and nutritional diet. The dry food can be bought in three sizes: 170g, 340g and 680g. The food comes in a transparent plastic container with a bright orange lid so you can easily see it in a reptile or pet shop. It is also ... available in some supermarkets. Each container has an orange label round it with a drawing of a tortoise eating the food. The whole look is quite tropical and unique, which makes it look very appetizing to buy. On the label, it is claimed that the dry food is a '100% vegetable diet, highly palatable and convenient & cost effective'. It is also high in fibre, which is good for any tortoise's diet. All tortoises can eat it but I personally have a Hermans tortoise. I agree with all these points apart from the cost effective part unless you are willing to clean up after your tortoise. My tortoise goes mental in his tank and ends up getting the food out his bowl all over his substrate (he has sand). It is hard to clean up and this leads to some of it going to waste. The good thing is, you can put the food as it is in a bowl and most of the uneaten food will remain in there to be reused another time and poured back into the container. The actual food is multi-coloured, which is very attractive for you and your tortoise. The food consists of small dry balls of 4 different colours - yellow, red, orange and green. The food actually smells surprisingly nice too but I wouldn't go eating it yourself unless you want to turn into a tortoise! As the box says, this product is 'not for human consumption'. The food contains protein, fats/oil, fibre, moisture, ash and vitamins as well as copper. All these ingredients will help your tortoise to lead a healthy diet. My tortoise finds this food very easy to eat, as the pieces are small. He doesn't seem to like the way the food is dry and it is recommended on the box to be moistened and fed to your tortoise by itself or with fruits and vegetables. The only problem with this is that you won't be able to reuse the food. An ideal way is to sprinkle some over some fresh fruit or vegetables that you give to your tortoise so it can get the best of both the moisture and extra nutritional benefits. This is an excellent product as it is easy to prepare and very good for your tortoise. The 170g, 340g and 680g cost around £4.99, £6.95 and £11.49 respectively. I would recommend getting the largest 680g container as it will last you ages and is definitely cost effective in the long run, even if your tortoise spills some across the tank. My tortoise seems to love it every now and then and it gives me a break from preparing fresh fruits and vegetables! Highly recommended - visit www.t-rexproducts.com for more information.
