Advantages: A good addition to a well balanced diet
Disadvantages: Most dragons wont touch it, not suitable as a complete diet.
Zoo med bearded dragon food is a convenient pellet food for feeding to your bearded dragon. It states that it is nutritionally balanced, however most reptile keepers warn against feeding pelleted foods as a staple diet, as they dont usually contain everything reptiles need, and the formula can cause health problems in the long term.
This food is supposed to be a high moisture content food, which provides the moisture dragons usually get from plants. However I found the pellets quite hard and solid to the touch, not very moist at all, and very plain looking...dragons have teeth that can come out quite easily, I cant imagine the food would be good for them.
However I didn't have that problem, as my bearded dragon wouldnt even look at the food. I tried mixing it up with his veg, mixing it up with giant mealworms, even feeding it to him by tweezer, wiggling it to make it look alive, and he just would not touch it. I've heard this is a common problem with pelleted foods, the dragons just eat around them and wont touch them.
All in all, if you can get your beardie to eat this stuff, it is probably good for adding variety and a range of vitamins and minerals, however it shouldnt be used as a staple diet. The best diet for a bearded dragon is a wide range of leafy greens, with some vegetables and a little fruit, and live insects three times a week. It doesnt seem to be something that can be replicated in complete food form.
Summary: Bit of a waste of time and money...
