Planet Coffee (Hull):
... a student is hard - you might not believe it but after all these boring lectures, long essays and all this free-time can be incredibly exhausting :-) And what is a better cure than a deliciously sweet hot chocolate with cream and a piece of cheesecake on the side. It is no wonder that the Planet Coffee on Newland Avenue in Hull/England is more visited by students than the University itself. I can of course onl... Sawasdee Thai Takeaway (Hull) ... area around the University in Hull/England is a Takeaway heaven; options go from Chinese to Fish&Chips to Thai and Middle East. It s perfect for lazy students and people looking for a delicious and not too expensive dinner. The Sawasdee Thai Takeaway is a well-kept secret on Newland Avenue close to the student house on Auckland and Cranbrook Avenue. Having spend quite a lot of time in Thailand I am quite critical when it comes to Thai food takeaways. Having tried many tasteless curries and bland tom yam soups the Sawasdee Takeaway was a welcome surprise - food that taste exactly like in Thailand with pad thai tasting like the one from the foodstalls on busy Khao S... Pizza Hut ... Hut started it s life in the USA in 1958 and by 1972 had 1000 restaurants. In 1973 the decision was made to go global and branches were opened in England, Canada and Japan. This first branch in the UK was in Islington, London. There is now over 697 restaurants in the UK. About 12 months ago Pizza Hut had a bit of a re-vamp and the restaurants imporved immensly. The branch that I visit mainly is in Ashton-under-Lyne and now has a nice modern decor but without being too loud and gaudy. I love the lighting as it gives it a great atmosphere and is very relaxing. As with all the chains the menu consists of starts, mains and desserts and although Italian there is... McDonald's ... really do serve disgusting slop as well as helping to destroy the planet. I can t believe anyone even eats here. For what you get they are very expensive as well. Their food is very high in saturated and trans fat - even their salads which are more unhealthy than a chocolate bar. The reason people eat here is because scientists reckon fat is addictive and people get hooked on it. In my view, the fast food industry needs to be treated like the tobacco industry especially in light of the obesity epidemic that has occurred in the UK. There was also the recent scandal when they were found to put sawdust in burgers in a few of their stores. This was uncovered in a food st... Read the full review: Disgusting slop by Asdf1 |
