Antibos - the great Nottingham tradition. After spending my University years in Nottingham I somehow managed to miss the delights of Antibos and their "limited two for the price of one offer". I did however manage to pay a visit eventually. Antibos is an Italian restuarant in the City Centre. It is fairly well-known amongst Nottingham folk and the two for one offer seems like a good deal. Seemed ideal for a works night out. It all seemed to start well as we all arrived in post-work cheer, had a few drinks and were led to our table. The menu is traditional Italian food - pizzas, steaks, pasta, seafood and...kebab(!). We did not get much time to make up our mind on food but I saw this as an indication of the speed of service I was to recieve. On asking if I was allowed to change a slight part of the order, I was bruskly told no. I feared a microwave job so ordered a rare steak to avoid this. My food turned up late, so late in fact that most of my friends had to eat theirs for fear it would go cold. And the steak was medium (not rare)...anyway the booze kept us going for a while. A disappointing night. Half the price for half a service
When someone says Nottingham to you, what do you think? Robin Hood, Torvill and Dean or maybe even Nottingham Forest? Whatever you think of Nottingham, just put those ideas/thoughts/stereotypes aside and listen to good things about Nottingham regarding restaurants. Within Nottingham and the surrounding area there are lots of restaurants suiting a range of tastes. Italian, Greek or French, you name it Nottingham has it. My personal favourite however is a restaurant situated close, in fact opposite to the club, The Palais. It is called Antibos and has a fantastic range of food and cuisine. Whether you want Pizza, exotic food or just a simple burger then take a journey down to Antibos where the choice is endless. Not only is it quality food but it is also at a reasonble price. For example: Occasionally they do a special deal where if you buy one main course then you get another main course for a combined price of £5. What a bargain! You don't see those sort of deals every day! Along with restaurants in Nottingham there is a range of fast food restaurants such as 'The Food Factory' which is also close to The Palais but further up near The Victoria Centre. This fast food place allows you to either eat in or take-away specialising in chips, burgers and kebab. Another personal favourite of mine is the 'City Kebab House'. I regularly visit this small rstaurant after a good nights clubbing and they have the nicest kebab meat and superb cheeseburgers in the whole city in my opinion. Again you can eat in or takeaway but its great value for money as its only £2.70 for a cheeseburger and chips. By the end of this year, a new restaurant is opening close to the Odean Cinema adjacent the market square called 'TGI Fridays'. This is a well known restaurant throughout the world with restaurants in New York of all places. Anything thats good enough for New York City is good enough for Nottingham!
