Disadvantages: Expensive, Food is small

Bada is a new restaurant in town. You can tell by the name that it is going to be one of those joints where it is cool to be "seen" eating there. Well, aftre my visit, I can give a very good description to its service, food and general standards.

Location.
Hmm...Not exactly centre of the town stuff here. It is situated along Broomfield Rd in Chelmsford about 5 mins walk from the bus station and Railway station. Sounds close enough but it has nothing else around. True, there is a poular pub 2 doors down (The Ship) but the main nightlife and entertainment in the town is based on the opposite side. It stands alone in a quiet row of sleepy shops.
In fact, If I remember rightly, it used to be a Music shop selling classical instruments before run by an old lady!

Appearance.
You are a bit on show here. Its large glass windows and shallow premises mean that you are likely to be sitting right in the window. Its paintwork outside and designer chairs inside do little to hide the fact that it is an old shop conversion. The Laminate wood floor gives it a very modern feel as do the "waiting sofas".

Availability.
you will do well to get a table. They have very little space and only room for about 6 tables so be sure to book well in advance. Turn up on the night and forget it or be prepared for a long wait.

Food quality.
Very good. I was quite impressed with both the menu and the taste of the food. It is not the traditional "Steak and Chips" type menu. It offers a more unique style of cuisine. If you are not adventurous then dont bother as you need quite a wild pallet to eat here and enjoy.

Food quantity.
Well, it is a designer restaurant so expect designer portions. More remembered for its lack of size than anything else, you will no doubt leave the restaurant hungry.

Staff.
Very friendly as you would expect. Being a small outfit, it needs to impress its clients. I expe
ct the people serving have a vested interest to keep the punters happy (i.e. they own it!).

Pricing.
A bit expensive for what you are getting but I suppose you are paying look cool while you eat. Ive been there once and probably cant afford to go back again!

Overall.
Ive now sampled it and can say I have been. I can also pass on my views on the place.
Too small and too expensive for a general meal but if you want something a little different, Bada is as near to it as you will get in Chelmsford.
