Advantages: Huge variety of choices, alternative healthy fast food

Disadvantages: Only available in North West

Having only stumbled on Barburrito just under a year ago it has now become my all time favourite fast food restaurant. I would compare it to the mexican version of subway in how you order your food.

Firsty you order what it is you want, from the choice of burrito (flour tortilla) burrito bowl (simply a burrito but in a bowl and eaten with a fork rather than rolled up) nachos (tortilla chips covered with chosen ingredients) or tacos (corn tacos filled with chosen ingredients).....

Next you go along a subway type counter choosing what meat (or veg) you want, then they out the lime and coriander rice in, then pick from regular refried beans or the spicy ones, then you have a choice of several salsas, salad, jalepinos, cheese etc. So you can tailor exactly how you have it.

I always have a chicken burrito, regular beans, hot salsa, sour cream and all the salad with extra jalepinos YUM!!! They do offers where you get a side of nachos and a drink for £5, but this is dependent on the restaurant and what other offers they have at that time.

As you can choose your ingredients you can either have it as healthy or unhealthy as you want, but in general it tends to be much better for you than a burger fastfood chain!! I love all the food from here, its perfect for lunch on the go or if you want to sit in and take your time!

You see the meat being cooked and cut in front of you so you can be sure its always fresh which is good to know!

Good news for students too as you can get student discount and they also offer a loyalty card scheme. :)

Even though it can easily come to £5 for a meal it is definately worth the money as I have not once managed to eat it all (much to my friends delight as they get to finish it)and it leaves you satisfied and full for quite a while, unlike certain fast food that leaves you hungry again an hour later.

The bad news is....if you dont live in the north west you will have to drool from afar! So far there are only 3 open, one in Trafford Centre in the food court top floor, one in Manchester City Centre near to Piccadilly Gardens, and one in Liverpool.

Just to support the fact i'm not the only one who loves this place, Barburritos has had numerous glowing reviews, with the guardian listing it as one of the top 50 healthiest fast food places in the UK, winning BBC radio Manchesters best newcomer in Food and Drink awards...the list could go on and on...but go check the website for more

Summary: Ditch the rubbish fast food and give ones of these a try!

Sounds great. Shame they are not all over the country.

Oh no! It sounds DELICIOUS! (My mouth is literally watering!) Too bad I live way down south - will definitely have to keep it in mind when visiting up north. Great review!

Sounds like it would be worth me taking a trip to Piccadilly Gardens next time i'm in Manchester
