Bellini Restaurant (Rowlands Gill) Restaurant / Cafe National

Newest Review: ... sat us at a nice table by the window, which was thankfully right next to the heater as it was a very cold February night. On Mondays it's happy hour all night, and so we were given a Happy Hour menu with our main menu. As we all knew what we wanted before we came in (spaghetti carbonara and calzone, as they're amazing at Bellini's), we were happy that these were on the cheap menu. The Happy Hour menu also had a wider range of pizzas and pastas, and everything on it cost around £5.50. We also had a litre bottle of house red wine between us, which is much better in my view than a normal sized bottle between three people. The food was excel... more

we had a large booking, and every request seemed to be an inconvenience.the manager was obviously having a very bad day,as he was very off with us,and he also evicted another diner, telling him not to return.i dont think he will.we would have liked to have stayed longer and have desserts/more drinks, but because of the bad attitude and poor service,we couldnt wait to leave.there are plenty more resteraunts out there that will be glad of our service.

Dated, same menu for over 10 years now, quality getting worse, serving margarine with bread instead of butter, iceberg lettuce and a tomato as a 'side salad', dried parmesan, Costco chocolate cake microwaved as a pudding...if it wasn't so convenient this place would be out of business.

On the surface this appeared ideal. It's a pity that the reality was not quite as good as we expected. Our experience did not start well when confronted over some complications wanting to drink water as well as wine. Apparently it is too cold to drink water in Newcastle in the winter and we shouldn't ask for it? Wine was overpriced and rarely available, descriptions were extremely poor and when asked about it or to even see the label was a chore.Food was generally quite good although served in measly portions with poor presentation and God forbid ask for mayonnaise. Deserts are terrible. 1/2 a slice of ASDA's worst Tiramisu is not worth your while.£55 for 2 with wine is acceptable but I will not be going again.

While I was at home for a few days my parents decided that it would be nice to go out for tea one night. While we have a massive choice of good restaurants in Newcastle only a fifteen minute drive away, we decided to go back to a place which we used to frequent when I was still living at home fulltime: Bellini's in Rowlands Gill. I won't tell you exactly where I live to avoid stalkers or anything, but I live within about 3 miles of the place so it's always been a convenient place to go to, and since it's usually been so good we've always been happy to keep going. Being situated in the main part of Rowlands Gill (opposite Tesco if you know the place at all) ...  Read the complete review
