Advantages: Good food and convenient
Disadvantages: none really
I fancied going out for a meal on my Birthday, but hubby was not so keen, so we compromised . We ordered an Indian take out from our local to Bhujon Indian & Bangladeshi Takeaway at 12 Miswell Lane, Tring. I believe this is one of a small chain of restaurants as there are several others with the same name.
Previously when we have had food from here although alright we were not as keen on it as food from another local Indian restaurant, but as this restaurant is within walking distance we decided to give it another try. I also think it has changed its management since we last ate a curry from here.
This is only a take out premises no facility for eating in.
Opening times are 5.30 till 11pm 7days of the week. It was about 8.30 on Friday night we picked up the phone to order, we couldn't be bothered to walk the 3 minutes it would take to get there and hang about till it was cooked or walk back home again then out again to pick the food up.
We ordered the food and were told it would be about 20 minutes, much better than the 45 minutes we would have had to wait for a table to be free at an alternate restaurant 10 minutes away by car.
I decided not to order rice with our food but to cook some as we had plenty of time , it would make our meal cheaper.
Hubby walked to the shop to collect our food. It is a smallish shop in a row of other shops at the bottom of Miswell lane, Tring where it meets with Western road. We could have had free delivery as the Bhujon Indian & Bangladeshi Takeaway does deliver free on orders more than £15 if within a distance of 4 miles.
There are a couple of chairs for customers to sit on while waiting, but since our meal was ready when Hubby asked at the desk he did not need to sit down.
The service he received was fine. Staff neither off hand or particularly friendly they were just doing their job passing over the bags of curry saying what they contained to make sure order correct. Then asking for and taking payment.
The food came well wrapped to keep it warm in those serving boxes which were inside bags. The boxes had the contents written on them so we could easily recognize which was the lamb dopiazer that I had ordered and which the potato and spinach husband had ordered.
We discovered we had been giver a couple of poppadom's free with our meal. These were very good still hot and crispy.
I served our meal from the boxes onto a plate easier to eat really We did as we usually do have a spoonful or two of the other persons curry to try .
As well my lamb dopiaza (5.50) and hubbies sag aloo(2.75 as a starter hubby ordered it as a main I can not remember how much it was this way ) we had a mushroom bhaji (2.75)to share. There was a small onion salad for one of the meals too. I had a nan bread (1.65) hubby had a couple of chapattis(95p each) The whole meal for the two of us cost just over £15.
We sat down to eat our meal with a pint of beer. My dopiaza was delicious, a really good helping of it. My hubbies spinach and potato was good too. The mushroom Bhaji was particularly good you could actually taste the mushroom they were not over cooked obviously fairly freshly cooked. Hubby enjoyed his chapattis my naan bread a good one too.
The rice I had cooked was outstanding of course.
We had so much food.We were well and truly stuffed, I need not have cooked the rice even though it was only a small amount.
I enjoyed my take out the taste and quality of the food good. The price is similar, if not better than other local Indian take outs and restaurants.
We always feel a bit hard done to when we hear of the cheaper price our friend in Bradford pays for a curry, but for a curry in Herts and Bucks it's not a bad price.
If you wish to see their whole menu, go to www.bhujon.com
So would I recommend? Yes, and I expect to eat food from there again soon.
