The Birdcage, tucked away in Whitfield street behind Tottenham Court Road, is a surreal and beautiful place. It's dinner-as-theatre, from the menus which arrive as origami birds in cages, to one of the wierdest desserts I've ever had (strawberry and chilli sorbet). It's thai fusion food, with the emphasis on fusion. The chef used to run the kitchen at the hempel, so he knows what he's doing. Meal for 2 is around £30-40 per head, but the setting is so beautiful, small and discrete that it's perfect for wooing someone. But booking in advance is a must. ... Read the complete review
