Advantages: Fairly priced, great quality.
Disadvantages: Gets very busy as better than many chains.
Boston Tea Party is a small chain of family owned cafes in the West of England. There are three in Bristol, one in Bath and a couple of others.
Boston Tea Party rises above such commercialised chains as Starbucks and Costa in that everything is of such a high quality. You enter the cafe and you have a reasonable selection of coffees and teas to choose from, along with your usual latte, mocha and cappucino friends. There's also a small selection of fresh juices and cold drinks available. The prices are all good value, cheaper than Starbucks but ten times better. Boston Tea Party cafes are all also fully licensed with a small selection of beers and lagers to choose from, some locally produced.
The food is what makes Boston Tea Party stand out. The food is all made from locally sourced ingredients (as far as possible) and freshly made on the premises. Many of the sweet treats are baked in store, and the sandwiches are made fresh. The food is all delicious too. The cake portions are huge, and the caramel slices are AMAZING, with at least 1cm of caramel and a huge layer of chocolate too! Good value for money. The sandwiches and meals are a little more pricey, but the quality of them means i'm more likely to justify a £3 sandwich here than I would in Starbucks.
The service in Boston Tea Party cafes is always good, and staff are always friendly. When busy they can be a little slow at clearing tables, but they're never left for too long. The toilets are clean, and in the Park St. Cafe there's a delightful garden area which is lovely in the summer months!
All in all, great quality at a fair price.
Summary: Shame it's only in the West.

- 09/01/09 I think they must have improved then. There used to be one in Whitefriars years ago and that was over-priced crap. |
