Disadvantages: hair in my burger. slow service.
I just want to have a rant about the local Burger king in Walsall, West Midlands. Situated in the town centre, on the opposite side from Mcdonalds, but a bit further down, it is usually very quiet, and it is for this reason that me and my daughter decided to go there for something to eat rather than the perpetually crowded Maccy D's. I was a bit dubious, as the restaurant had recieved bad press in the local papers because of people taking drugs in the toilets and leaving needles.
The restaurant itself had a rather dated, tired look about it, and while it wasn't dirty, it was crying out for a makeover. there were only about 2 other customers in there, so I thought we would get served reasonably quickly.
There is a good variety of typical fast food choices at burger king. Lots of different types of burger, including flame grilled and Angus meat options. They also do kids meals that are about £1 more than their Happy meal equivalent, and include a toy. My daughter opted for the kiddie meal and I had the fishy burger, because I thought it was the safest option.
Service was slow. PAINFULLY slow. I was told i would have to wait while they cooked the ocean burger. So we waited..... they game me the kiddie meal, which went slow while I waited....
Finally I got my burger. we had no trouble finding a seat, the place was empty! I unwrapped the paper with anticipation, I was starving! My daughter tucked into her kiddie meal, and then I saw it.
A long, presumably human hair, wedged in my burger.
I didn't feel hungry anymore. I felt a little queasy.
I took my burger to the pimply teenagers at the counter and they gave me a refund and told me they would do me a free replacement.
But I would have to wait.....
I sat back down and could see them all whispering and sniggering behind the counter. My daughter had nearly finished her food and was completely oblivious to my suffering!
Finally, I got the replacement burger, which was hair free, and ate part of it, having completely lost my appetite.
I'm not condemning all Burger king restaurants. But the one in Walsall is pants.
Safe to say I won't be going back there for anything to eat, but judging from the empty seats, neither does anyone else!
Summary: Horrendous experience, burned in my brain forever.
