Advantages: Taste, Very Filling
Disadvantages: Drive-thru
I thought I'd spread my proverbial Dooyoo wings this morning, and write about something I haven't tried before - food. That being the food of the fast variety. Fast food has long been the staple diet of Americans, and now us too, and now pretty much every where in the world. You probably can't move an inch in Timbucktoo for a McDonalds. And Never-Never Land has never been the same since KFC dug their corporate claws into it. But love 'em or loathe 'em, fast food resturants are here to stay, and they are immensley popular. Why, did you know for instance, that 1.6 billion (b-i-l-l-i-o-n) Whopper burgers are consumed each year? That's about four million a day, you know. (No, I'm not that boring. I took this from their tray-liner.) Burger King, McDonalds, KFC, Whimpey (do they still exist?) all provide cheap, but filling, food. Fast. We have even become so lazy that we can't be bothered getting out of our cars some times to get our meal, so they handily throw it onto our fat laps for us. But even if you complain against the Americanisation of the UK and the rest of the world, we have to admit that these chains are always on hand for a quick and tasty meal. This thought to write an opinion on Burger came to me yesterday when I was sitting in one of their resturants munching happily on a burger, and I saw the motto on their tray-liner: 'It just tastes better...' And I was reminded of the rivalry between Burger King and McDonalds, and I thought, "Yes, it does." I even thought the speech marks too. The world seems to be divided into those who like McDonalds, and those who like Burger King. And I have to say I support the King of the Burger. The Whopper is so much tastier than the BigMac, what with the fillings being crammed in, a bigger burger (again the tray-liner, not me), and an all round greater taste. I once starred in a training video for Burger King staff (I
'm not an actor per se, more like a filler-shot because I happened to be there type-thing). So I realise that the main reason that I'm qualified to write an opinion on the place is because I've eaten there. What do you mean you thought I was going to use some big-headed reason? Oh, the vanity... By the way, I'll be signing autographs at the end of the opinion. So, a friendly resturant with a hugely filling and even huger taste, Burger has got to be the no. 1 choice for connosieurs of the 'Look, there's some where to eat!' nature. Because, as they say themselves, 'It just tastes better...'

- 18/09/01 I can't say that I've ever had a good burger from BK. It was always dry and had no taste. This is true of two BK's that comes to mind in Dublin. I must be a McD fan then... |

- 18/09/01 BK does whoop McD's ass. Just a teeny thing (because I'm on a mission to wipe this out) - you don't spread your proverbial wings because 'to spread one's wings' is not a proverb. It's just an expression, see? The pedant is leaving now. I thank you. |
