Burger King Well here goes for my first op on the Dooyoo site. May I make as many friends as on Ciao lol. I have to say that when I’m in town and want something to eat I usually opt for McDonalds. However, I have just started university and am now the proud owner of a student discount card (wahoo). I went to McDonalds to see if I could use my card, and found that I could only use it with a ‘McDonalds Privilege’ card. OK fair enough, lucky for me I had one of these too. So I got my Big Mac meal and handed over my cards, expecting the normal price of £3.10 for the meal (!!!) to go down slightly. ‘Hands over cards…gets annoyed looks from the people behind as the ‘McDonalds’ guy leaves his till, cards in hand’ ‘McDonalds’ guy comes back’…. “Would you like a Cheeseburger?” OK not quite what I was expecting. So I now have my student card, and after ordering a meal, which I have to say does actually fill me, I got offered a free cheeseburger instead of money off. Bleugh!! OK back to the point of the review lol. Next time I was out and about I decided to go to Burger King for a change. (OK nothing to do with the 10% student discount sign in the window, honest!) This time I asked what I could use my card for. In Burger King you can use your card to get money off your food. However this is only towards single items and not full meals. I ordered a Bacon Double Cheeseburger, and Fries. I have to say on first appearances the burger looked very big, and was ‘built’ in a way where it wasn’t going to collapse as soon as you picked it up (Unlike the Big Mac, which is normally falling to pieces in the box). The burger also totally filled the box it came in. Another plus for Burger King. However eating the burger was a different sto
ry. Unlike McDonalds, there was no sauce on the burger, which I found made it extremely dry. There were no gerkins, which yes I am one of the few people who actually like them. And finally the taste of the actual meat is very different from McDonalds, which is kind of bad when you are used to ‘that’ McDonalds taste. For me the burgers were a let down. However, if you are one of these people who goes to McDonalds, orders a burger, and then spends the next 10minutes scraping off all the sauce, onions, and other mysterious delights then Burger King is for you. Next came the Fries. Now all of you out there have probably tasted the McDonalds ones. Cold (ish), salty, and if you get a long one it flops over (oo-er lol). Burger King, yet again are totally different. My fries came slightly warm, not as salty, and slighter thicker. Very nice I must say. However, be sure to eat your Fries straight away because when they get cold they get quite hard, unlike the McDonalds ones, which just get soggier lol. The food at Burger King is more filling, and the discount is good, which makes the food cheaper then McDonalds, who recently put up their prices. However for me, McDoanlds still has the advantage. I think this is purely because I really do like their Cheeseburgers, sauce and all lol. But if you don’t like this, I recommend you give Burger King a go. You may be surprised. However eat the Veggie Whopper with caution. I’ve read some reviews that are less then enthusiastic about it lol. Advantages: Good value for money Warmer food (based on my experience) Bigger burgers Disadvantages: What happened to service with a smile??!!! No sauce on the burgers Fries that go harder when cold Quite expensive xxx

- 02/01/02 You can ask for sauce and gherkins in the burger, it only costs money when you ask for cheese or bacon to be put in (and on the bacon doulble cheese, it already has that stuff) |
