When I asked my work-mates to recommend a restaurant to celebrate my partner's new job, the unanimous vote was Byzantium. Without being all "Oh London, this, London that", I was impressed at the decor and this was my first "nice" restaurant in Bristol. It reminded me of Momo near Regent Street. It had a great atsmosphere, despite being quite a different restaurant-concept it was very un-pretentious. Somewhere like this in London has that dreadful "look at me, I'm here, Don't put me next to the loo", but here its just a regular (expensive) place with regular people enjoying a top night out. The Byzantium restaurant in Bristol, is a jewel of a find. It has the feel of North africa with the food of the French. Built in old buildings opposite St Mary Redcliffe church (noted as queen Elizabeth I as the most beautiful parish church in Britain); it stretches over two floors with the ground one done in marble with large marble tables and marble benches.
