Caffe Nero
Is this really the best coffee this side of Milan?? At least this is what they state on the back of there uniform.
This has been my first visit to a Caffe Nero as I had time to spare before an interview and didn't fancy the usual star bucks or Costa coffee and its something new to review.
Food
******
The range of food is very good with a large amount of choice for a coffee shop. The food that was in the shop included:
A selection of Pizza,
Pasta (Lasagna/ Tortelloni),
Sandwiches/ Ciabatta
Salad
Soup
Fruit salads and obviously the dreaded cakes that you can't resist.
Drinks
******
They had a huge variety of drinks from cold drinks to speciality coffees. Prices from £2 to just under £4
Anyone can get a Coffee, Coke, Tea, Fruit Juice or Smoothes to stay or to take away. With a Price tag attached to your drink of 20-40p extra for deciding to stay in.
With 12 different types of coffees to choice from it's a surprise I managed to choose one. All coffees are decaffeinated by using the Swiss water process. You can also add an extra flavour with a variety of syrups. Suitable for people will milk intolerances as Alpro Soya can be replaced with semi-skimmed or skimmed milk.
Selection from regular- 12 oz
Grande- 16 oz
Espresso Macchiato- Espresso with foamed milk for a smoother taste (espresso beginners)
Espresso Con Panna- Double espresso with whipped cream an Italian classic (just seems to me a larger Macchiato)
Espresso - A thick smooth, full-bodied pure coffee that will give you an instant pick me up (nearly there)
Espresso Ristretto- The daddy espresso with an intense taste (pro if u dare to try it)
Caffe Americano- Double espresso topped with hot water
Cappuccino- Double espresso with steamed milk with a fluffy top (one of my favourite coffee drinks)
Caffe Latte- Double espresso with steamed milk and some foam. (I chose this one and it was a lovely choice the coffee was smooth but strong)
Caffe Mocha- espresso with chocolate and steamed milk with whipped cream (my favourite coffee drink you are getting the best of both worlds, for someone who cant decide between a coffee and a hot chocolate just like me.. I love them)
White chocolate mocha- espresso with white chocolate and steamed milk with a huge dollop of whipped cream (very naughty)
Hot Chocolate- milky chocolate drink with a huge amount of cream with chocolate powder on top (not ideal for a dieter)
Hot chocolate Milano- thick but smooth liquid chocolate with whipped cream. (Yummy I didn't spot that on the board of that would have been my choice)
Chai Latte- A blend of cinnamon, spices, black tea and sugar with frothy milk, 99% caffeine free (oh very exotic haha)
Caramelatte- Espresso with vanilla toped with hot milk and whipped cream covered in caramel. (Sounds so nice an looked nice, might have to go back)
Service
*******
The service was extremely quick, not surprising when there was 8 members of staff behind the 2 tills, my coffee was made extremely quickly and all my needs where catered for. The staff were very friendly mostly students who were very polite and tried to make a sale of food and cakes. The service as very clam but worked very well there was a huge crowd at one point of my visit of maybe 20 or so people and they were served very quickly and easily with smiling faces at the end.
Atmosphere
***********
The atmosphere was very nice even with the street works outside it was quiet inside the shop with quiet music playing. The interior was very nice with a red, blue and wood design accompanied with low lighting finished off with wooden tables and chairs and the more comfy leather cushioned chairs. It was very clean and a nice smell of coffee in the air and it wasn't to overpowering.
Location
********
The location at the moment isn't the best as there are street works taking place just outside the shop but this is happening all along the high street but once this has been completed the location will be good as it is in a busy area of the town and is a corner plot with two windows so lots of advertising places. Due to the size of the shop they have two floors one on street level and one below there is a total of 38 seating spaces upstairs and more downstairs but I didn't go downstairs so it's a mystery how many there are. I could quickly tell that the location will be very good as there was a promotion on that day and they were giving away free samples of coffee and they were being grabbed up very fast with the promoters coming back every 5 minutes to get refills, with crowds of people following them.
Opening times from 7am -9pm
My personal views
****************
This is a very nice coffee shop a lot better than the usual star bucks and Costa in my opinion as it is a much quieter atmosphere with more of a one to one personal experience with the staff rather than an a conveyer belt of customers. The coffee was extremely nice and I would recommend the caffe latte to people that didn't no what to have. I enjoyed the coffee so much I brought a bag of the beans that they use and it's not the same as they make it so I will be going there again.
Thank you for the read and rates.
LUKE
