Lovely food, in a sweet restaurant, well worth a visit

This cute little restaurant is tucked away in the basement area beneath the Patisserie - the stairs are a little precarious for those in heels though so beware! And certianly not suitable for anyone with any walking problems. There was no visible lift, so the stairs is the only way in - and out (worth remembering before having a bit too much wine at dinner)

The restaurant is small - only 50 seats - so worth booking in advance, especially if you want to dine at the weekend. I tried using Toptable to book but the reservation was rejected, and found it was better to book directly with the restaurant. I didn't notice any deals available with Toptable, but woudl be worth checking anyway.

The food is delightful, the Chateau Briand (which came with chips, coleslaw and salad) was perfect for the two of us, and the chocolates we shared for dessert were also scrummy! Portions were very generous, and all the food we saw other people eating looked amazing too and everyone seemed to be enjoying it.

The staff were very friendly, and helpful, all very youthful. We got the impression it was perhaps staffed by people attending the local University. They weren't hugely knowledgable about the food, or forthcoming with recoemmendations, but they were very polite and sweet.

You can bring your own wine here and pay the £4 corkage - which is what the majority of people do. Their wine list is rather small and not a lot of variety.

The toilets were small but very clean and well maintained.

A very reasonably priced restaurant, highly recommended.
