Having been to a Chili's restaurant whilst visiting America (and finding it to be amazing), I was pleased to find out there were several Chili's restaurants in the UK. Though the food is generally okay, the standard tends to differ quite a lot (usually depending on how busy the restaurant is), and the food is pretty expensive for what it is. The menu does have variety, and some nice options for people who don't like spicy food. The best bit is that the food is put in front of you and you get to make it up yourself (so you can put as much meat and guacamole in your fajitas as you like, etc). However, as a whole I think Chili's in the UK is quite disappointing and if you want some spicy food that's cheaper and (all round) nicer, it is probably better to go to Nandos, where the food tends to be more consistent and is just cheaper. (Sadly!!)
Absolutely cr*p. Dry food. Gristle steak. But far worse was the service which was awful. We were treated with distain all the way through the meal. Requests for food or drink were grunted and delvered by being practically thrown on the table. Everything was too much hassle. Food was taken from the table before it was finished.
We did not give the "optional tip" because quite frankly they did NOT deserve it (we normally tip at lesat 15-20% if the service is exceptional), and so were greeted by a very sarcastic "Merry Xmas".
If this review stops ONE person eating there then great. Awful.
It is a match made in heaven- fresh, homemade tortilla chips, salsa and Mexican beer. But it is here at Chili's- the best value for money in town- the bottomless chips for about £4.50. You can sink into some absolutely beautiful tortilla chips, hot and spicy salsa and they will keep bringing you more and more big bowls of the stuff until you say stop. This is a great place to go for drinks (they also offer bottomless soft drinks too so you can get unlimited free refills) and bar snacks. If you happen to fancy a bit more on the meal side of things, you have a great choice of Tex Mex and American delights. They do huge hamburgers, fries, fajitas, soft tacos, and Chicken caesar salads. For vegetarians, they have some very nice selections- veggie burgers with all of the trimmings: lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, and mayo. Veggie fajitas- served hot and sizzling at the table. Veggie quesadillas which I had last time I was there- they are huge... there were literally about 8 big slices of quesadillas on my plate alongside rice, beans, salad. All for about £7. Service was fast and friendly- and no one makes you feel bad for ordering more than your share of the tortilla chips. The restaurant is set in the Canary Wharf mall and is ideal for anyone working in the vicinity of Canary Wharf/East London. From what I understand, Canary Wharf is a definitive ghost town on weekends so best to trot down here during the week. I went on a Tuesday night and the place was buzzing. Anytime I hear people moaning about portions in London, I think of Chili's and smile to myself.
