Advantages: Big menu.
Disadvantages: Not the best mexican out there.
I had my first experience of Chiquitos in Leicester square in London. I was attracted to it as it looked busy and lively and like it might sell interesting drinks. On my first occasion in Chiquitos I did not dine, I just had some drinks. The bar was downstairs, with seating area and if you wanted to eat you could go upstairs. The bar was incredibly busy so there was no chance of finding anywhere to sit and it took ages to get served but the atmosphere was good and lively and the drinks were nice, all be it a little pricey.
I returned to the same Chiquitos a couple of years later and this time sat upstairs to eat. The food is Mexican, and there is a wide variety on the menu, including all the usuals, like Fajitas and Buritos etc. There are nice accompaniments such as spicey fries and rice with vegetables in. There is nothing on the menu which isn't what you would call Mexican, so make sure you like Mexican before you indulge!
The food is nice to taste, seems to be cooked from fresh, arrives in a reasonable time and the portion size is big. The only downside with regards to the food, is once my partners meal came out to spicey, which upset him for days afterwards, so if you are sensitive to spicey food, it would be worth asking the waiter or waitress first if they can avoid all the spices.
Price wise, the menu is OK, I think it could be a little cheaper to compete with other restaurants in it's service sort of range. The drinks are nice, but a little over priced, more so than in a nice bar. They do lots of cocktails which taste good, but again are a little costly.
Chiquitos is a growing brand. With all things considered I would recommend checking it out, for drinks or dinner, if you like Mexican food.
Summary: Pre cinema dinner.
