Advantages: Clean toilets - its the only thing that impressed me
Disadvantages: Poor food, expensive for what it is, slow service
On trying to work out how to spell Chiquito on google, I found some reviews of its wolverhampton branch and sat there thinking are you sure you went to same place I went to cause mine was not a glowing review of the place. Little did I know my boyfriend had been there twice before and did not like the food but decided to take another chance thinking maybe something on the menu would taste good. For me it was my first time there last sunday.
It wasn't packed out, I would say it was less than half full, mind you the whole Bentley Bridge retail park was kind of dead for a sunday. Got into the establishment, rubbed that lizard creature for luck and waited for ages for someone to come and show us to a table at this point we was in two minds whether to eat here or run off. Not sure how long we been waiting somewhere in between 5 to 10 minutes.
Shown to our table in the corner and left alone with gigantic menu cards, maybe another 5 or 10 minutes till we were asked what we wanted to drink. Order our drinks and I was kind of expecting the drinks to come in under 10 minutes, it was definately a long time and we was still considering what to order. In between getting our drink we gave our food order. Still not received our drinks yet at this point and boyfriend had time to change what he wanted to drink, wasn't like there was no staff, I saw plenty behind that bar.
I Just knew with the slow service, food was gona be a long time too. Boyfriend ordered the so called hottest thing on the menu which was the Pollo Del Fuego - illed guajillo-chilli-marinated chicken breast,
Mexican spiced rice, fajita roasted vegetables & cooling sour cream. Apparently red hot, intrigued by the dish I did have a bit of a taste, didnt taste hot to me ok maybe a few chopped little chillies but apart from that bit of a disappointment.
I ordered the Acapulco Chicken Fajita -Strips of herby marinated chicken coated with melting Jack cheese & crushed tortillas. It came on a sizzling skillet. I thought the waitress would of had the sense to put it on the other side of the table since it was free. So placed in front of me the sizzling skillet was spitting at me especially hitting my arm and steaming my glasses up, boyfriend assuring me it will die down soon. Assuming that mine would taste better, I found it hard to eat, my chicken was cooked to a crisp it was like rubber eating it. It was served with a plate of cheese and lettuce too, the lettuce looked like it died, limp and yuck maybe they should of just not bothered with it. Hardly the best way to present food to a customer.
Atmosphere, you got the lively mexican music playing away and hardly any customers there, not sure if its like this all the time but I certainly wont be eating there again the food, just wasn't up to my standards and service was slow compare to other places.
Summary: Not a happy dining experience.
