Great coffee and drinks selection, shame about the rest

Advantages: Delicious coffee and drinks
Disadvantages: Poor service and food
I met up with my friend yesterday at our local Costa in Chelmsford which is where we meet monthly for a good old natter and catch up so i've been here quite a few times although we sometimes chop and change and try Starbucks or Nero instead.
I love the coffees here and i can honestly say that over and above the other coffee outlets local to me they do make the best coffee - it never tastes burnt or too strong - they always make my lattes just right!
The same goes for hot chocolates - i think the best hot chocs are from Costa and never have any gloopy syrup at the bottom. I haven't tried their other coffees although i do love their Frescatos too!
I had a vanilla one yesterday and apparently they're quite low in fat! I would definitely recommend one in the hot weather.
Whilst i rave about the drinks there are some bad points about Costa - which is why i generally choose to go to other places despite the fact that their drinks are the best.....
You always have to wait in a queue and even when it's small it can take them up to ten minutes to make a drink - they never seem particularly organised in this respect.
Secondly their service is very poor - they do the bare minimum to be polite but there is never any real sense of them genuinely being happy to serve you - as far as service goes Starbucks is the best.
And their food is pretty poor too. Whilst the cakes all look mouth wateringly delicious the mufffins are quite dry and the same can be said for all the ones i have tasted there. The best thing i have eaten at Costa is an almond croissant but again i would say the ones from Starbucks are better.
As for sandwiches don't bother - they are overpriced and dry. I haven't had a panini or anything like that from here so i really can't comment but overall i would say it's a fab place for coffee lovers - not for a decent lunch though!
As with many coffee shops there is also the problem that there are never enough seats!
Summary: Good for a mid morning or afternoon coffee
