Just ate again at the Crazy Bear, and was very disappointed with the food. Yes, the surroundings in this recently renovated bar restaurant are very glam (dare I say completely over the top!) and it's an interesting place to go for a look, but the food is vey underrrated, which considering the prices, makes it a real disappointment.
We had a group of 10 eat there, so had a good sample of the starters and mains on offer, and none were outstanding. My salad was okay, but not great, and my steak was fair. Chips were very greasy and the small amount of spinach was dumped on my plate.
Considering that the starters were about £7-9 and the mains ranged from £18 up, our meal came to £65 per head with wine. We all had a couple of glasses but nothing extravagant.
So, a very expensive meal, in lovely surroundings, but the food certainly wasn't worth the money.
The Saracens Head located opposite will do you an equally nice meal for half the price, albeit in slightly more subdued surroundings.
