Advantages: eat lots

Disadvantages: queues

Oh I love this place! Here's the idea. For £19 a head, you are in the coolest restaurant in the world! You approach a selection of food (meat, fish, vegetables etc), and place whatever you fancy on a metal tray. Then you take it to one of a line of chefs waiting with woks in hand, and choose a style of cooking that you fancy. The styles are all explained in the menu and range from traditional, like Indian Korma, to odd, like Norman, cooked in cider. You tell the chef how you want it cooked and he or she cooks it in front of you to your specifications.

You go and eat it, then you go back and start again, and you can go back as many times as you like!

This is a great place, and we have eaten here over 30 times over the years. The prices keep going up, but that's to be expected with the popularity of the place.

The best thing is eating a range of different styles. We went last Saturday, and I started with Chicken in the Dijon style (Dijon mustard, cream, white wine), then my second was beef in black been sauce (chinese). My third was venison in texas bbq sauce, my fourth was an indian chicken korma, and my fifth was turkey cooked in thai style with coconut milk. Yes, that's right - I ate five main courses! It's crazy!

The down-side is that, by your own error, you can make some awful dishes by choosing ingredients that don't mix. The other down-side is that there can be a massive queue when it gets busy, so it's best to turn up early.

It's not fine dining - it's all wok cooked in front of you and sometimes the meat can be a bit over-done, but it's more about the experience, and it's great to go with friends.

All in all, a great novelty place to eat, but you'll only get the benefit if you've got a big appetite.

Summary: do it
