Advantages: The dip, the base and the toppings
Disadvantages: Price and customer service
Having spent three years as a student I pride myself on my expertise in the local pizza shops, and can say without a shadow of a doubt that Domino's pizza is the best by far. I won't pretend that the prices are competitive or even justifed, but I pay my £15 (large) every weekend for a slice of pizza perfection!
The menu - the variety of pizzas on the menu is not extensive, but you can 'create your own' from a list of ingredients and bases. You also have the option of having 'half and half' toppings if you are sharing. This is a fantastic idea if you're a couple with different tastes; not so good if you have a serious aversion to certain ingredients -they do spill over the halves slightly! My favourite option by far is the Meatzza Pizza, which contains all the best meaty toppings with none of this mushroom business! Whatever pizza you choose, Domino's don't skimp on the ingredients, so you get plenty of your chosen topping. There are also a range of starters and desserts on offer which seem to change rather frequently. I have never had anything memorable for either of these courses, but the food is pleasant enough to stop any complaints.
The service - the service is probably what lets Domino's down the most. The staff are friendly enough in store but I usually order on the telephone. The staff almost always answer the phone and put you on hold immediately while they answer other calls on the line, coming back to you about a minute later. On the plus side, they keep a record of your details so that when you call from the same number they already know your name and address and even what you ordered last! You can also order online and through your Sky remote which is good for the wow factor but never as quick as picking up the phone.
The delivery - you are usually told the wait time is 45 mins, but in reality it usually arrives after about 30 mins. I have never had to wait more than the 45 mins and more importantly have never had to make that second phone call to find out where my pizza has got to!
The best bit - so I'm not overly chuffed with the service but pleased with the delivery and the pizza itself but what is it that draws me back to Domino's over everywhere else? THE DIP!!! With every pizza comes a warm pot of garlic and herb dip for your crusts and it is to die for! Never before have I enjoyed the crust as much as the pizza, but when it comes to dipping that soft doughy base into a warm pot of garlic, I would sacrifice the pepperoni and spicy beef anyday!
Summary: Second to none!
