Advantages: A great selection of pizzas that are good quality and good value for money
Disadvantages: Pizza is not a healthy food choice
Domino's pizza has been riding the crest of the wave of late due to the economic situation with families opting for a takeaway rather than a meal out.
What do they offer? - Domino's offers an excellent selection of pizzas including Pepperoni Passion, Mighty Meaty, Tandoori Hot and Full House. They also offer 2 vegetarian pizzas, Vegetarian Supreme and Veg-A-Roma. All in all, the current menu offers 13 pizza options. You can also create your own pizza which allows you to experiment with your own pizza toppings. There are 4 different size pizzas available: Personal (7" - 4 slices), Small (9.5" - 6 slices), Medium (11.5" - 8 slices) and Large (13.5" - 10 slices). The price of the pizzas range from 3 pounds for the smallest cheese and tomato pizza, to 14 pounds 50p for the large specialty pizzas. You can also choose your type of crusts, including regular and thin crusts. Cheese and herb sauce can also be infused into the base.
What else? - If your choice of pizza is not enough, you can also purchase a range of side orders. These include garlic pizza bread, potato wedges, chicken strippers and chicken kickers.
Not forgetting the Desserts... - If that's still not enough you can purchase waffles, brownie squares, cookies and of course Ben and jerry's ice cream in a variety of flavours.
...Or drinks - A standard range of drinks are available in 330 ml cans (Coke/Diet Coke/Sprite) or in 1.25 litre bottles (Coke/Diet Coke/Coke Zero/Fanta). The cans cost 70p each and bottles 1 pound 80p so they are not the best value.
Whats my favourite? - My girlfriend and I normally purchase The Sizzler (sundried tomato and garlic sauce, pepperoni, onions, jalapeno peppers, tandoori chicken, herbs). This pizza has an good balance of meat and pizza base. There is also a generous helping of jalapeno peppers to give a real bite to the flavour. If you don't like spicy flavours this is probably not the pizza for you, but if you do, it is hard to choose any other pizza. For a side dish, we look no further than the kickers combo which contains 7 pieces of chicken breast in a mildly spicy crispy coating. The combo also contains potato wedges. The sauces provided include garlic and herb dips and the excellent hot sauce dip which has an excellent spicy kick to it. The overall quality of food is good.
Tasty but healthy? I would recommend Domino's as an occasional treat for those Friday nights where the working week has ended and you don't feel like cooking. However, as you'll will know already, pizza is not a healthy food option and contains a large amount of carbohydrates, meat and cheese. So whilst the food is undoubtably nice to eat, it is not especially good for you.
Value for money - My favourite pizza order above costs 14 pounds - very good value for money between 2 people. Domino's also offers a range of offers to entice pizza lovers. Current offers include buy one pizza, get one free on Tuesday nights, and also a 5 pound online discount if you spend 20 pounds or more.
Order and payment options - You can purchase your pizzas in house, over the phone or online. Payment methods include cash, chip and pin and credit card (Mastercard, Maestro, Visa, Delta and American Express). Domino's do not accept cheques.
Customer Service - I have always found the staff at my local Domino's to be friendly, polite and efficient. The quality of our food orders have always been good.
Overall - I thoroughly recommend Domino's as a takeaway option. They offer a great selection of pizzas that are of good quality and good value for money. Although pizza is not a healthy food choice if you have Domino's as an occasional treat you won't feel guilty.
Summary: Perfect for an occasional treat if you don't feel like cooking
