Advantages: Tasty, Quick Delivery
Disadvantages: Not cheap, Fattening
I have never really been a massive fan of the Italian version of cheese on toast, as nothing I've ever had has been as good as the pizzas my mother used to make. My mum isn't Italian either, but she did used to make very good pizzas from scratch when I were a lad. However since I ordered my first pizza from Dominos about 2 months ago I have started to change my mind. The company itself is the largest pizza delivery firm in the world, they have outlets in more than 60 countries worldwide and recently opened a branch near to me in Guiseley. If you want to find out more about the company then try www.dominos.co.uk I originally though about trying this company's wares as they posted a leaflet through my door with a special offer for half price starters, what a sucker I am for cheap food! A word of advice is to try and get hold of these leaflets as they do have some good offers, or just ask when ordering what they are doing. For example if you fancy a pizza Monday to Wednesday they do special deals, I wont elaborate too much or I'll sound like an advert for the company. Every time I have rung them to order they have been quick and polite, the option to pay with a credit card is handy and so far touch wood my card hasn't been subjected to fraud, which is reassuring. Deliveries have been within half an hour each time (sometimes I order at busy periods, Saturday evenings for example) and when placing the order they do advise how long it will take. If anything the time-scales quoted have been generous. You can also order online but I have not tried that. I did hear of someone who ordered online and got their pizza about 2 hours earlier than they had requested, but that isn't something I can verify, maybe worth bearing in mind. The menu is perhaps a bit sparse, in terms of variety of pizza available but they do have 6 different starters and 16 types of pizza as well as 4 kinds
of dessert. There are also vegetarian options available. One thing I really like with Dominos is they give you dips with just about everything and I love their dips, my waistline probably doesn't! You can have chicken dippers as a starter and that comes with two different dips for example and they even give dips with the pizzas themselves for you to dip your crust into. Not that you need the dips for that as the crusts and the pizza bases are probably the best I've ever tastes. I'm not sure if it's the dough is just very fresh, or they deliver it super-fast or if they use some special ingredient but it really is tsaty. Normally if I buy a pizza I enjoy the topping but leave all the crusts, I don't do this with Dominos unless I am stuffed! Prices are not cheap, but I believe they are well worth paying for the extra quality you are getting. You get what you pay for remember. They only offer one type of base, no thin-crust or deep-pans here, the bases are probably a half-way house between the two and in my opinion just perfect. They come in three sizes, the smallest is about right for one person, maybe two could share if you had starters as well, with the largest size easily enough for two to share, three with starters. That's in my opinion as an adult with a reasonable appetite, honest! Toppings are quite generous and you have the usual option for extra toppings for a small charge and they will also do a "half and half" pizza with two toppings of your choice, very handy if you are sharing. Delivery is free on orders over 7 pounds, they don't specify exactly how far away they will deliver so you'd probably need to check that, but I live about 2 miles away from my local. I've used Dominos about half a dozen times recently and honestly haven't had a bad experience so far. Every time the pizza has been delivered on time and has been exc
ellent, hot and fresh and now my mouth is watering!
