Wow.........after returning to the UK after spending a lot of time in Los Angeles, this place was a breath of fresh air from the usual pretend to be nice to get your money restaurants that Swansea has to offer. The food was first class I enjoyed and devoured the Warm Duck Salad for starter and then a perfectly cooked Sirloin Steak, the American waitress we had was unbelievable helpful and so so charming that I would recommend Eleo's to everyone!! My only gripe and its not with the restaurant or the staff its the tipping system in Britain. Please if you have had good service and food its only fair to leave a little something for these guys, unlike the table of 8 next to us who decided just to leave a mess! Shame on you Swansea but thank you Eleo's and staff.
It's been a while since we dined at Eleo's but after having a poor meal at La Parilla we decided we should give it another go. On arrival we were greated with a very polite young lady who took us to our table. The restaurant seemed a lot more warm and cosy than I remembered and the food was simply delicious. I opted for the king prawns and Welsh lamb which were both excellent and my husband chose the ribs followed by the fillet steak. The service was also first class. The meal with wine came to less than £50, so the experience was not only much better than La Parilla but also far more reasonably priced and this will now be our restaurant of choice that we will be happy to recommend.
its 8th dec 2009 went to eleos for food. been one of my partners fav place for years. This time be different my food ok but his was disgraceful he was not happy starter was burnt main was tasteless and chips were not cooked. Always a prob is how cold it is in there never any heat. For price we paid could have gone to mumbles for really good meal. be warned new management different service not good food wont be going back.
It may be two years since the last review on this site but the place has obviously made a dramatic change! We went to Eleo's for a family birthday recently and we had an excellent time and thoroughly enjoyed. We found the staff extremely efficient and polite, you can now order food from the table (which avoids the hassle of getting up, queuing and choosing!) and the food was beautifully cooked. I highly recommend this place as it's certainly one of the best restaurants in Swansea.
Went to eleos last summer for a romantic spot of lunch with my girlfriend. staff were v. helpful and asked if it was our first time there.... and then explained the ordering process. Food was amazing and house wine complimented my main of sirloin steak perfectly.
the whole feel of the place is quite rustic chic.... was really impressed with the use of the beams in the restaurant, upon which hang hooks for dining adventerously. I was half way through eating my main when I saw a skewer being hoisted above a table, really good way of presenting food i guess.
Just remember to place orders at the counter, as you choose exactly the piece of fish, meat or poultry dish you want to be cooked for you.
My girlfriend and I felt the whole meal was lovely and surroundings to match......would reccommend to guys looking to impress while not seeming overly flash ;-)
I recently came across the review by 'Dave_9'about Eleos Restaurant on the website. I was most surprised with the comments made. I infact had recently visited Eleos during the Christmas period, and cannot praise it enough.
My wife and I both had three courses. The food was excellent, particularly my wife's lobster which she chose herself from the display cabinet. we found the staff very friendly and all in all it was a wonderful evening.
We went to Eleos to celebrate our anniversary and what a mistake that turned out to be. We arrived on time to find our table was not ready and we had to stand around waiting for 40mins, then with no apology and only after badgering one of the waiters we were finally shown to our table. No one cared to tell us what we were supposed to do to order etc, so we eventually made our own way up to the service counter to try to order some food. The waiter taking orders behind this bar was so rude and unhelpful we returned to our seats without ordering anything, absolutely disgusted at the service we were receiving. We asked another waitress if we could order with her instead and she said we couldnt we had to go up to the counter and put up with that mans attitude again, so we decided to leave without having any food at all. The next day I decided to write a letter of complaint asking for them to reply and I am still waiting to hear from them. We were absolutely disgusted with this shambles of a restaurant and would strongly advise anyone thinking of eating here to think again and go somewhere where the staff are a little less rude and obnoxious and the management actually care about what is happening in their restaurant and how their staff are acting.
I will never go here again and hope I can spare anyone else from such a disappointing evening too.
We decided to go somewhere different for 'Mothers Day' and decided that Eleo's on the Kingsway in Swansea. Firstly parking was very easy as there is a car park with Camera coverage right behind the restaurant. Although it's a council owned car park and pay and display I felt safe leaving the car there. A short walk to the front of the restaurant and up a set of wooden stairs surrounded by a number of pictures and curiosities. At the top of the stairs we were met by the headwaiter that took us straight to a long wooded table at the windows. The table was solid and the chairs reminded me of older solid chairs that you expected Knight's to sit in. There is no menu as such you go to a cold counter that has a variety of meats and fish that are on the menu. There was a very varied menu and I will list a few of my favorites below: - Meat A variety of Beefsteaks from Sirloin to fillet and all very lean, Pork in a Mexican sauce, Lamb chops in a mint sauce, Lamb on a skewer or Pork pieces, Fish Monkfish (my fav fish of all time) Tuna steaks, Swordfish steaks, Salmon, The above is just a small selection there is also a salad bar and a number of starters, from chicken wings to garlic mushrooms, the normal but be aware they are large portions. I ordered the lamb on a sewer which when it arrived was hung up on a hook from the wooden beam above. Some garlic butter was placed at the top and then you just removed the pieces as and when you were ready to eat them - different!! The meal came with a choice of chips, new potatoes or a jacket potato. Jackie ordered the Mexican pork, which came on a salsa bed, and she ordered new potatoes to go with it. The meal she felt was very bland no real bite to the sauce which being Mexican you would expect. On the whole a reasonable meal in nice settings, not over price
d but not cheap either. Be advised its bet to book on the weekend because by 8:30 they were turning people away even though the restaurant holds approx. one hundred people.
