Fishers BistroNewest Review: ... a passing bus and within minutes were enjoying a warm welcome at Fishers. Our table was not ready, but we were offered seats at the elegant marble topped bar and ordered a glass of house white each while we perused the menu. Within 10 minutes or so our table was ready and we were ready to order. I chose the crevettes (big prawns) with an avacado salsa as my starter and what a tasty ... more |

Having heard good reports of Fishers bistro I found myself there on a wet and windy Edinburgh night a few weeks ago. Having seen a play on the Edinburgh Fringe we headed to the nearby Tower restaurant, but were told that they were full. After a few more phone calls, including one to Ducks, I was beginning to wonder if any restaurant in Edinburgh had a spare table on this Sunday night! At last, a friendly voice at Fishers in Thistle Street said they would love to have us and we could have a table in half an hour or so. So we hopped on a passing bus and within minutes were enjoying a warm welcome at Fishers. Our table was not ready, but we were offered seats at the ... Read the complete review

I'm clearly a bad parent. Wee baby Alex is only three months old, and already Snoogums and I have left him alone with other people on four separate occasions! Okay, so they weren't complete strangers. My parents have some experience of child raising, but their techniques are thirty years out of date. My brother and sister-in-law are both smart and sensible, but until Alex came along they'd never held a baby before. How could I possibly entrust the life and well being of my baby boy to these people, even for a few short hours? What if something happened to him? What if something happened to the sitters? What if there was a fault with ... Read the complete review

I have always been partial to a fillet-o-fish and around three years ago I found Fishers in a quiet corner of Leith next to the Malmaison hotel and brasserie. It's very small and it's always packed, although they have opened another Fishers in the centre of town. The menu one could describe as fishy eclectic so if you don't like fish and you don't like foreign muck then don't go here. Personally I adore both so Fisher's is the place. Services is not classically good but it's extremely friendly and helpful, and if you want something simple or wierd then just ask. I've never been kept waiting for anyhting and ... Take a stroll along The Shore in Leith and you won't find any sand - but you will find a huge array of eateries and bars. One of the best, and most respected around Edinburgh is Fishers Bistro. Handily situated next to Malmaison Hotel, Fishers enjoys a mixed clientele of (predominately) US visitors and locals and offers the closest thing to the perfect meal experience I've come to in Leith. The menu is largely seafood based and offers firm favourites like the creamy seafood chowder with crusty bread - almost a meal in itself - and less common dishes such as queenies with pesto - a healthy portion of queen scallops with a homeade pesto ...
