Amazing fish restaurant - don't miss it!

I went to Fishworks in Bath for an anniversary meal 2 weeks ago. it didn't disappoint, it was probably the nicest meal I have had this year!

First impressions were really good. We approached the front and good see that it was also a fishmongers as well so you definitely know that your fish is going to be fresh. We were given the option of sitting upstairs or downstairs. We chose upstairs and we were brought up to this lovely room with wooden floors and lovely unpretentious decor. We didn't feel cramped at all and there was just about enough tables to make this place feel atmospheric.

The menu is obviously full of fish but there are some meat options as well. For starters we decided to have mussels and bread and dips. We also ordered a beautiful New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc which didn't break the bank at £19. The bread and dips came first. Gorgeous, there were 3 dips and different assortments of bread. We were starving so we snaffled it fairly quickly. The waitress came over and asked if we wanted more and we said yes! We had the second lot of bread with the mussels. Yum yum, the mussles were massive and were done in a lovely sauce. There wasn't loads of them but after the bread we didn't need loads anyway!

For our main course I had seabass and my husband had skate. He ordered extra veg and I ordered chips. Again, the food was amazing. So light and tender and the taste was exquisite. I forgot to mention that as well as choosing from the menu, if there is nothing that you like, you can go down to the fishmonger, pick a piece of fish, and they will cook it for you. Now that is service!

For dessert we shared coconut ice-cream and my husband had a cappucino. The total came to £88 (inc a service charge). I thought that this was very reasonable.

Fishworks is the type of place that you could go for a meal, have a girlie night out or go with the family (all of which we observed that night). The service is attentive and they are very knowledgeable about the food and wine.

I left feeling like I had been spoilt all evening!
