Foxtrot Oscar - fishcakes might be questionable but atmosphere is lovely

Foxtrot Oscar (London)
Advantages: Wonderfully intimate and hidden away in Chelsea, delicious food and great wait staff
Disadvantages: Those fishcakes! Also very small, so not good for big groups?
This was the first Gordon Ramsay-helmed restaurant we had the pleasure of going to. We had heard from numerous sources that, in terms of value for money, this was the best option under the Ramsay umbrella. We thus made the trek out to the restaurant (its address is in Chelsea but it's very much on the border) for Sunday lunch.
I had the fish cakes and the roast, whilst my husband had the foie gras pate and the burger. Our food per head was around £15. I remember hearing that Foxtrot Oscar's fish cakes were frozen, having been prepared off-site to be brought to the restaurant, but I thought they were good, nonetheless. The hubby's foie gras pate was THE course of the day, however - it was served with brioche and beautiful chutney, and on our way out, it was the dish we were talking about.
So, we found the food to be very good - the atmosphere, though, is what drew us back again. The restaurant is quite small, and we've only ever sat on the ground floor (I think there might be seating in the basement, but as we've always booked, we've only ever sat upstairs). That afternoon, the windows were open to let in the sun, and despite sitting at the table closest to the bathroom, our overall dining experience was superb, with the wait staff very attentive to our needs. We later returned during a colder month for a romantic evening meal - it might have been Valentine's? - it was very busy but we were still able to have a very intimate meal, as the tables were not too close together.
Admittedly we have not been recently as our schedules haven't allowed us the time to go that far west, but remembering our experience at the restaurant is making me re-think that. If you're in the area, then I would definitely seek it out - Ramsay is a brand-name but this restaurant still feels like a boutique. Best for couples!
Summary: Ramsay's esteem might have fallen in some circles but this restaurant is great
