I have just come back from a delicious dinner at a very continental French restaurant in West Smithfield (City). In a nutshell this place has authentic high class Gascon and Basque cuisine and it is set in a beautiful and intimate setting. The dishes are served by very attentive waiters in very different and picturesque plates. The food is not of the super-minimalist type synonimous to modern French (or British for that matter) cuisine.
