A great night out

Advantages: Great food, atmosphere, lovely staff
Disadvantages: Slighty pricey
This Japanese restaurant is situated at the top of Stowell Street (China Town), in the centre of Newcastle. The location is great and so is the food.
The menu offers appetisers, special dishes, sushi, and for the less adventurous diner, set meals. The set meals cost between £18 and £30, depending on which you order, and they consist of many small dishes which are presented one after another until you feel like you will burst!
On my last visit we paid £18 per person, (which sounds like a lot but believe me it's worth it) and we enjoyed - salad, miso soup, king prawns, salmon steak, sirloin steak, chicken terriaki, stir fry and fried rice - thats a lot of food, and it was all cooked to perfection and very tasty.
The atmosphere is great. It can be quite noisy as all of the food is prepared in front of you on a giant hot plate in the middle of the table, and people do cheer and clap the chefs. The noise did not spoil my experience at all.
The drinks are about average price for a restaurant, with a bottle of wine costing around £11, however the meal lasts a long time so you might drink a few. The length of the meal is a plus for me, as it seems like a night out, rather than just having a quick meal then having to go home.
I would most certainly recommend fujiyama to anyone.
Summary: One of the best restaurants in Newcastle
