Advantages: great food, great staff, great price

Disadvantages: only if you don't live close enough to get there!, price per person - by the way £10 average excluding drinks

When I first met my wife Amanda she introduced me to this little takeaway near where we lived at the time. ‘Gatley Tandoori’ is the name of the place and when she said it was a takeaway I didn’t have high expectations. How wrong was I! We had a ‘Chicken Chat Puri’ each for starter and then we shared the main meal of ‘Chicken Biryani’ and ‘Garlic Nan’. Just a quick example of one of there many dishes, was my Favourite part of the meal, the starter, it consisted of very finely chopped chicken saturated in a spicy tomato sauce which was thick so it didn’t drip at all. The chicken was encased in a deep fried pancake of some kind, and we sprinkled lemon over the top before eating. It was gorgeous, divine, I cannot think of any words that will suitably describe how wonderful I think this dish is!

The great thing about it is, they now have a restaurant next door! The place is beautifully decorated and the staff are very welcoming. The prices are reasonable, but the main thing is the food – it truly is exquisite! If you live local to Gatley, Stockport and you haven’t tried this restaurant yet then ‘what are you waiting for!’. It will not disappoint you I promise. It is open each evening till about 11pm, and is located on church Road opposite the ‘Horse and Farrier’ pub.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Jill Murphy asked me to write about one of my favourite things to help her celebrate her fourth anniversary of cancer-free living and to remind ourselves of all the nice things in the world. It takes more muscles to make a frown than a smile you know. If you'd like to join in, whether you've only just joined dooyoo, or you've been here ages, you're more than welcome. Just write about one of YOUR favourite things, make your title "A Favourite Thing: [your choice]" and include this paragraph at the foot of your opinion. And post be
fore Friday, 9th August.

Mmm, chicken chat is one of my favourite starters - a close second to Bhuna prawn puree!
