      Advantages

      Disadvantages

This place was really nice - the food was a great standard and stayed hot for ages (a good thing). My only criticism - I once asked for a delivery order and the man said they didn't do delivery service, but another time after that I spoke to a girl on the phone who said they did, and I got my takeaway straight to my house! Someone was a liar! (Man, hint hint!)

The Golden Chip is situated on the outskirts of Belfast at the edge of Dundonald village, and is famous through out the area for its superior repast and varied menu. On most evenings of the week, especially at the weekends, a queue will form inside these takeaway premises and it will snake through the shop and out onto the footpath outside, even when the weather is inclement. The food is prepared as you wait and because of this is delivered piping hot and will remain so for the journey home. The menu is as said before varied, and a customer may purchase from as little as a half chip to a full meal including if desired a Cowboy supper, having passed through the range of burgers, sausages, steakettes and other items which will tempt the palette. A choice of types of fish is available, cod, whiting, plaice and of course scampi, which can be unusual in this type of shop in Northern Ireland and all the food is served to perfection by staff who always have a friendly word for customers and a bit of banter for regulars. Over the years the shop has received various awards for their excellent produce but the best award must be from an annual chip shop challenge from a local church youth club. Each year this club travels round chip shops in East Belfast, sampling the wares and awarding marks for standard of produce, cleanliness and attitude of the staff and each year The Golden Chip receives the top marks from these very discerning young people. It has been known for people to travel for long distances to partake from these excellent premises and although, because of too much imbibing of the product by myself in the past, I am restricted in my visits to these premises, they remain without doubt the foremost premises of their kind in the East Belfast are at present.
