Advantages: The burgers

Disadvantages: The staff

My OH and I recently visited the Gourmet Burger Kitchen in Westfield Shopping Centre (London). We had never been to a GBK kitchen before, but because we had a two for one voucher, we decided to give it ago.

For the vouchers please visit the GBK website.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen was a New Zealand idea, however, it started in Battersea (London).

** My first Impressions**

We were not happy to walk through the door and have to wait 5 minutes before anybody came over to seat us, so we decided to take a seat at one of the booths and wait. A waitress then came over and was not happy we had just taken a seat, but said we could just remain where we were.

We looked over the menu and it looked great. It had a wide range of choice and everything looked yummy.

There are many different burgers to choose from, from the classic burger, cheese burger, to satay, Barbeque, Blue Cheese and Mexican burger, to name a few.

If you are not a red meat eater, or your a vegetarian, you will be happy to know GBK offer a wide range of chicken and vegetarian options.

If you don't fancy a BIG burger, you can go for the Junior option (not just for kids) or maybe a salad?

When your ready to order, you go upto the counter and place your order, same sort of thing as Macdonlds, but your meal is brought out to your table when its ready.

I decided to for the Chicken Avocado & Bacon, and my OH went for the Chilli 100% Aberdeen-Angus Scotch beef burger.

The burgers don't come with any sides, i.e chips. If you fancy something on the side with your burger you will need to order it seperately. We decided to order one side of chips to share because we had heard how big the burgers are.

** Cost**

GBK is definately not a cheap place to eat if you don't have a voucher. The adverage cost of a burger is around £6-£8, and add on top your side order, i.e chips which cost over £2 for a small bowl.

** Impressions of the Meal**

We had to wait around half hour for our meal, and for some reason people who came in after us, received their meal before us. Normally we wouldn't mind so much, but we were only at Westfield shopping centre for a couple of hours.

When we received our meals i was gob smacked with the size of the burgers, nothing like your normal burger a Macdonalds.

I really enjoyed my Chicken Avocado & Bacon burger, the chicken was cooked perfect and the burger was big enough to fill you up for the rest of the day.

** Final Thoughts**

Even though we both really enjoyed our food at the GBK kitchen, i don't think we would be rushing back in a hurry. I really enjoyed the food, couldn't fault it in anyway, but the staff at the Westfield Shopping Centre kitchen has put us off for a while, plus the prices are not exactly cheap if your trying to save money.

DON'T FORGET - your two for one voucher from the GBK website, or visit Moneysavingexpert.

Summary: Don't forget to print off your 2 4 1 voucher

Ooh I love GBK - there is one where I live and one just metres from my office - temptation! Always busy though...

Reviewed it recently and I thought it was superb, even without the voucher, shame you wouldn't rush back.
Maybe because it was in a shopping plaza it was exceptionally busy?

Yes very nice burgers and I thought worth the money, but there always seems to be queues and a wait for a table there. Well, there have been on the two occasions I have been anyway.
