Advantages: Good Food, Amazing Selection and Reasonable Prices

Disadvantages: £1.45 for an extra sauce is rather steep

The thing I like about Gourmet Burger Kitchen (GBK) is that it is a burger place that actually has put some thought into catering for Vegetarians. Im not a militant Veggie - I dont eat meat myself, but I don't go on about it and dont have any problems with people eating meat at all, its just a personal choice. However, one thing that does annoy me is that when eating out, the only vegetarian options available in places such as Burger King, McDonalds or The Fine Burger Co. is a deepfried mush of tasteless vegtables sandwiched between some lettuce and tomato..... Just because I dont eat meat doesnt mean I dont like food! The guys at GBK have taken this into consideration.

So, you go into GBK and take a seat. You are confronted with their amazing menu of about 15 meat and chicken burgers and 5 veggie options. The meat options contain all of the classics such as a plain salad burger, cheese and bacon, bacon and avacado, a kiwi burger which has pineapple, beetroot and egg and various garlic and spicy options. There is also a few chicken and lamb options availale as well as some less common such as a buffolo burger (which is aparently amazing).

Regarding Veggie ones, I have tried:
- The Goats Cheese and Aubergene - This is amazing, its bigger than all of the meat ones and is basically a massive slab of breaded goats cheese and a large wedge of auberge served with salad! No skimping or cutting corners here. The taste is great and I, who has a very healthy appetite, can never finish it.

-The Falafel Burger - 3 large falafels served in a bun with chunky home made houmous and salad - slightly smaller than the goats cheese but still enough to fill you up.

- The Lentil and Curry burger - strange as it sounds its amazing with lots of potato to bulk it up and quite a kick to the sauce, this one is probably my favourite.

There are other options available, such as a portobello mushroom and feta option, and a cambert and roasted vegtable burger. I've not tried these yet but they are on my list.

Regarding price, you are looking at paying £6 per burger for the standard meat and veggie options and a few pounds more for those which are more specialised - when you see the size of what is on your plate you will realise that this is pretty good value.

Fries cost an extra £2.95 per portion, but the burgers are so massive that one portion between two is more than enough.

Ketchup and Mayonaise are available free of charge, but you do have to pay £1.45 each for other dips such as garlic mayo or blue cheese dip which I think is a bit steep!

Its always an idea to have a look at their website and sign up to members club before you go as there are very often special offers available such as burger and fries for £6 or Buy one Get one free; the website is - http://www.gbkinfo.com/index.php

Defintely a cheap but tasty meal, no formalities and a really nice (and cheap if you get an offer) night out with friends!

Summary: Good informal meal out

You were much more fun when you were a carnivore.
