Advantages: Cheap, fast

Disadvantages: Unhealthy

Before I started trying to eat healthy, I was a regular at Gregg's at lunchtimes. Gregg's (for those of you who don't already know) is a bakery which sells a wide variety of products at really low prices.

The sorts of things that they sell are: Pasties and pies with various fillings, sausage rolls, sandwiches, bread rolls, drinks, cakes and cream pastry's.

I used to eat loads of their pasties, as I found them really tasty, cheap and filling. My favorite's are the cheese and onion - or the cornish pasties which are really delicious.
Nowadays I tend to go for a sandwich more often than I would a pasty, as I consider them to be a slightly healthier option, and I find the choice of fillings to be abundant. I particulary like the ham salad, and the tuna and cucumber varieties.
The sorts of sweet things they sell range from cute little cupcakes, chocolate eclairs, dougnuts, cream cakes etc. I try to resist the urge to buy these but they do look very appealing and the odd few cakes I have tried, have all been delicious but very sweet.

The prices are very good value even though they have increased a bit recently, with a pasty costing around 60p and a sandwich costing between £1.60 and £3 depending on the size etc. Gregg's would be great for people on a low budget or for kids with pocket money - not too often though considering the obesity problem we have these days.

In Newcastle, where I live, there are loads of Gregg's stores, however I've never seen one further south than Manchester so it might be a Northern thing.

My only drawback is that most of the products that they sell seem pretty unhealthy, and the nutritional information is not available either in store or online. Not knowing what is in your food is bad news as you may end up overeating without really noticing.
I tend to class all of Gregg's stuff as bad for me, therefore nowadays I only purchase from there if I am in a real hurry and just want something fast, or if I fancy an occasional treat.

All things considered, It' s a cheap and cheerful place, only don't eat too many pasties or you may end up the size of house.

Summary: Don't buy from here too often as the stuff is probably full of saturated fat.
