Advantages: smell, value, staff, the opening times and the hot pastries that fill the void!

Disadvantages: they aren't the best quality

I am a huge fan of a delicious, crumbly, hot pastry and occasionally treat myself to a sausage roll from the high street bakery chain Greggs. Although they are not the finest pastries in the land, and are ultimately a fast food chain I still prefer to grab something on the run from them than MacDonald's.

The staff in Greggs are fantastic and provide a very speedy service to the queues of hungry shoppers in towns and shopping centres all over the country. They are extremely patient and have an efficient order of serving and baking the foods.

The smell of a Greggs bakery is fantastic as they finish off all the pastries on the premises. It certainly allures me in and a nibble on a hot pastry here might not be as good as one from a traditional bakers, it still hits the spot. Greggs also offers fresh bread and sandwiches made on the premises. I do love homemade bread and the sandwiches are yummy. Their loaves and buns are great value and you can get them sliced if you wish.

Greggs are considered as rather iconic where I live in Derbyshire primarily because they remain open until 4 in the morning. This means you can get a French bread pizza, a steak bake and various other tasty treats including iced fingers and chocolate muffins after a night out! This has created a slight boycott against the takeaways offering £10 pizzas in favour of a sausage roll for less than a quid! A real bargain!

Summary: a high street bakers providing tasty cheap pastries, sarnies and sweets until 4am!

I think they are open till 2 or 3 in Nottingham as well. Pretty good going for a bakery with a lot of shops still closed on Sundays!
